A painted and straight fence will shield you from your busybody neighbors without making your neighborhood look like a rundown trailer park and driving the already-depressed values of homes even lower. A house is the biggest investment that most people make. When neighbors let their places get overgrown, cluttered and rundown, it affects everyone around them.
Since the Peotone airport probably won’t happen because of no funds and airlines already said they won’t come. Since all that good farmland is bought up, why not put Obama’s library there? Not.
Last year, about midseason, I gave up watching the White Sox because of all the fundamental ineptitude. Well, I decided to give them a new opportunity this year. So I tuned into a game where they issued 15 walks and blew a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning. Then they ran out of pitchers and had to put a second baseman in to pitch, a guy who never pitched in his life, mind you. It seems that nothing much has changed, so I will redirect my attention to more productive things like watching reruns of “Gilligan’s Island.”
Some of the streets in my Chicago neighborhood are so pothole-ridden that it’s only a matter of time before entire streets have disappeared and returned to an unpaved state. We need to get rid of the grid system for Streets and Sanitation and go back to having this work be directed at the ward level. We were neglected after each snowstorm this winter and now we’re being overlooked when it comes to pothole filling.
I watched Chicago Police Chief Garry McCarthy being interviewed on television. Between the television press asking dumb questions about crime in the city and politicians tying his hands about what he says, I’m surprised he doesn’t tell everyone to take his job and shove it. I believe he’s under so much pressure not counting the actual crimes being committed. If he ever does leave he’ll need therapy to find out who he really is, which right now under all the adversity seems like a dedicated guy.
I understand that Dallas
impounds any car that is stopped for a traffic violation and the driver cannot prove that he or she has insurance. What a great idea.
So the crooked Illinois elected representatives want the Illinois taxpayers to fund the Obama library to the tune of at least $100 million? If this is not a wake-up call to vote all these bums out, then nothing is. Illinois deserves better, but we get what we deserve too. Remember the Clinton library was funded with private money, not taxpayer money, where did these politicians promoting come from?
A “low-level clerk” in Chicago’s Department of Transportation allegedly embezzled almost three-quarters of a million dollars. Her annual salary was $60,000. If that’s considered low-level, where do we apply? There may be a vacancy.
Does the writer suggesting reinstating the death penalty in Illinois actually believe that changing the law will stop these “kids” that think killing is free from consequence? Oh, sure, just before they pull the trigger they will say.. “Oops, I may get the death penalty for this; better put the gun away.” I don’t think so.
Increase taxes to pay bills. That’s all these politicians know how to do. How about a cut in their pay, pensions and benefits like the rest of us are getting. Maybe then there will be some money. We take home less money but they don’t. Something is wrong with this picture.
