Dear Tinley Park: About the death penalty, I couldn’t care less about those “kids” killing each other. I do care about the people found guilty of murder being given the penalty of a roof over their heads, three meals a day, medical insurance, health club membership and clothing, and we get the bill for it.

Joe D. from Frankfort

There must be a good reason why your neighbor’s fence is in disrepair. Illness? Perhaps they just lost a job. Why don’t you stop by and see if you can be of some help?

I am wondering when Mayor Rybak of Midlothian is going to let the residents know what she is doing so far while in office. We no longer get a village newsletter and she has had no village meetings with the residents like Mayor Stephens used to have. I want to know what plans she has for the area of 147th and Cicero where the car dealers used to be. What about our sad looking downtown area? What village improvements are ahead? Please, Mayor Rybak, inform us and educate us as to where Midlothian is headed.

Steve M. from Midlothian

Madigan is trying to force through legislation where we, the taxpayer, will have to subsidize Obama’s presidential library through another tax increase. The people who continually keep re-electing him, if his idea passes, should be the only ones taxed.

Bob from Oak Forest

How hypocritical to say, “I hope Mr. Bush and Cheney sleep well with all the soldiers coming back with loss of limbs.” As if none were injured since 2009 when Obama took office? Sometimes I really wonder about these commenters. The bias is so astounding.

Bob, Oak Lawn

President Obama made a statement stating about his two daughters, that he wants them to get equal pay. They have over $5 million in the bank. I don’t think his girls have anything to worry about.

Our city and state officials are accountable for their mismanaging of finances. Where is all the lottery, casino and perpetual tollway money? Unless you are prepared for a sizable exodus, search out where we are bleeding money, plug the holes and contact Wisconsin’s governor for his guidance on how to avoid bankruptcy. Put the Land of Lincoln back in the rightful hands of the people, not the unions.

It’s the IRS’s job to investigate any requests for a tax-free status, and they do investigate all requests, progressive and right-ringers. If Darell Issa wasn’t trying to hold a kangaroo court just to embarrass the president of the United States, we could get to the truth about what they did. But the chances of him not trying to hold a kangaroo court are very slim to none.

Gov. Thompson was the one who said that the lottery money would go into the general fund. He is also the one who started defunding mental health. So if you want to know why our lottery money isn’t going to the schools, look at Thompson and the Republican Party. Jim Edgar was the one who said we could delay payments to the pension fund. Gov. Quinn, he got a mess when he was elected. I really think he made a mistake. They should have let the Republicans have the mess they built.
