The Republicans keep saying they are going to repeal Obamacare and replace it with Paul Ryan’s plan. You’ll get an $8,000 voucher, go out and buy your own insurance, which you won’t be able to touch for $8,000, and you lose all your benefits that you now have. After they do that they will work on getting rid of Social Security. If you believe them, you have your head in the sand.
If people want an Obama library, it should be built with private donations. We have enough taxes and are in enough debt. I would be happy to make another donation, and I believe others would be too. I just can’t afford another property tax increase, and I think I am not alone on this.

To the commenter who stated that we do not need 50 aldermen: Los Angeles, a larger town with a higher population, has 15 aldermen. Based on that, Chicago should be able to operate with 10 aldermen. They claim their job is protected by the constitution. Who has a job protected by the constitution? If it is, put it up for a vote by the people. Let them decide if their job should be protected or not.
Obamacare has not made coverage cheaper for the real taxpaying people who support our country. It has become more expensive for less coverage and is not affordable. When the president, who rarely speaks the truth, says what a success it is, he probably forgets to mention the money, which is now between $10 billion and $15 billion, which he has taken from Medicare to support a program that will hurt more people then it will ever help.
Mayor Lou Presta, before becoming a mayor of our village, you were a trustee. So why is it such a surprise for you that our own village officials who we are supposed to trust did not pay for 10 years on the principal on a $34.7 million bond issue? Why are you now begging from struggling School Distrtict 130?
To VJ in Hazel Crest: Yes, the Republicans want to repeal Obamacare, just so the president does not go down in history, and Obama wants to keep it just so he does go down in history. The needs and wants of the people have nothing to do with it.
Let’s take all the politicians from the state of Illinois, put them in prison and then take all the prisoners from that prison and make them politicians. I don’t think it could be much worse than that.

“Chicago PD,” “Chicago Fire” and “Chicagoland” all need to be canceled. All these TV series are giving criminals and killers more fuel to do more and bigger crimes and hope they end up on TV. The mayor and police superintendent are to blame for the spike in crimes. If they want to be actors, they need to quit their jobs and move to Hollywood where they’ll fail like they’re doing here in Chicago.
Let me try to understand: The politicians reduce my government pension, but they are willing to give $100 million toward the development of a presidential library in Chicago. I don’t think so.

Whether you call them deputies at the courthouse, or bailiffs, it’s still a do-nothing patronage job. So it doesn’t matter what you call them.
Chicago wants to raise the property taxes to cover the pension thing. Why is it always on the back of the homeowners? All the other people who don’t own homes or property skate. If you want to make it fair, increase the sales tax by a quarter percent for pensions only. That way, everybody in the city pays their fair shares and the people even in the suburbs or out of state or out of the country pay, too, for those same services they use every now and then.
Why are we in the Middle East fighting terrorists when we have them here? They are the gangbangers. What is our government doing to stop them? Our military should be in the cities of this country getting rid of them no matter their age so that the people there can live in peace.
