Updated: August 22, 2013 6:03AM

The Southland Theatre Ensemble at Governors State University will perform “Hair” as its 2013 production.

Thirty-five cast members were chosen following recent auditions.

“Hair,” first presented in 1967 as “the American Tribal Love Rock Musical,” tells the story of a group of Vietnam-era Americans exuberantly creating their own rite of passage amid the confusion happening in the world around them.

The theater ensemble was established in 2009 as an artistic collaboration between the Center for Performing Arts, local theater educators and veterans of area community theater companies.

The is the ensemble’s fifth summer production.

Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the Center’s website at www.centertickets.net or by calling the box office at (708) 235-2222.
