THE SKINNY

A 36-yard touchdown strike from Chris Little to Sam Bordo put Evanston up 7-0, but the Crete-Monee defense responded by going into lockdown mode, shutting out the Wildkits for the next 34 minutes. The Warriors scored 34 unanswered during that span, spurred an 83-yard kickoff return to open the half from Elijah Douglas.

TURNING POINT

Crete-Monee (2-0) secured consecutive fumble recoveries from Jonathan Draper in the first half, the second of which he took for a 34-yard touchdown to give the Warriors a 19-7 lead.

THE STAR

Crete-Monee quarterback Frank Douglas threw a pair of touchdown passes to Chris Slayton and added a 5-yard touchdown on the ground.

BY THE NUMBERS

The Warriors limited Evanston (1-1) to 39 yards on the ground. Bordo caught five passes for 110 yards for the Wildkits. Little threw for 225 yards and two interceptions.

BREAK IT DOWN

Linebacker Nyles Morgan, one of the top defensive players in the state, made his season debut but played sparingly for the Warriors.
