THE SKINNY

St. Edward (9-1, 2-1) rebounded from its first loss of the season with a Friday night romp over Chicago Christian (4-5, 0-3). The Green Wave recorded 19 steals and used a full-court trap to lead from start to finish in Suburban Christian play.

TURNING POINT

Up 25-16 at the half, Joseph French sparked a 13-0 run to open the third quarter with a layup and pair of assists. It was a balanced scoring attack for the Green Wave as six players scored six or more points.

THE STAR

French put up an impressive stat line with nine points, 10 steals, six rebounds and three assists.

BY THE NUMBERS

Nick Duffy and Davontae Elam led St. Edward with 11 points apiece. Danny Favela chipped in 10. Chicago Christian wasted a monster performance from Bradford Fitzpatrick, who scored 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting and had 11 rebounds.

QUOTABLE

“Their two guards were pretty young, so I don’t think they were ready for our pressure when we put it on them.” — French
