THE SKINNY

In a seesaw battle, Rich East (17-4, 7-2) erased a 54-47 third-quarter deficit to record the Southland Conference win in Park Forest. The Stars (10-14, 3-6) committed 10 second-half turnovers. The Rockets shot 11-of-12 from the free-throw line in the second half after going 6-of-13 in the first half. They remain a game behind Bloom in conference play.

TURNING POINT

Rich East took the lead for good on a 12-0 run sparked by eight points by Calvin Harrington, including two consecutive three-pointers.

THE STAR

Rich East’s Nicholas Harden had a game-high 21 points, including making 5-of-6 free throws in the final minute.

BY THE NUMBERS

Harden led four Rockets scoring in double figures. Don Henderson (6 rebounds) had 18 points — eight in the fourth period, while Harrington finished with 14 and Quinton Moore 11. Bryce Lydon had 17 points off the bench to lead the Stars. Darius Juzang added 15 points and Malik Robinson had 10.

QUOTABLE

“I think the biggest difference was we had a play (in the third quarter) where all five of our guys dive on the floor for the ball. That really got us going.” — Rich East coach George Leonard.
