Eight arrested after Dolton dog fight busted

Eight people were arrested and at least four pit bulls were rescued after police witnessed organized dog fighting take place in a Dolton industrial park Wednesday night.
A resident called police about 7 p.m. to report the dog fight in an industrial park near the 1500 block of 142nd Street, village spokeswoman TaQuoya Kennedy said.
Officers made the arrests after they saw dogs fighting in a makeshift ring, Kennedy said.
Cook County Sheriff’s police took two men into custody for questioning, Cook County Sheriff’s office spokesman Frank Bilecki said.
Six more individuals were discovered hiding in the rafters of a building and were taken into custody, Bilecki said.
At least four dogs were found, Kennedy said. All of them showed signs of abuse and improper care, and appeared to have been involved in the dog fighting.
The ring was set up at the end of a cul-de-sac in an industrial area near the Bishop Ford Freeway, Bilecki said.
