An escort that included police and a motorcade of motorcycles accompanied Army Spc. Donald Sliwa on Thursday as he was welcomed home to Midlothian.

Sliwa, 23, recently completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan, where he was an operations transporter and gunner.

Sliwa has completed his enlistment, having earned an Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and NATO Medal, according to the Warriors’ Watch Riders, who provided Thursday’s escort.

Sliwa, a Bremen High School graduate who was on the bowling team and loves working on cars, hopes to spend time with family and friends and get a career going, the Warriors Watch Riders said.
