Here is a look at what Southlanders are accomplishing in the military.
News includes Hometown, Hickory Hills, Chicago, Palos Hills, Robbins, Palos Heights, Richton Park, Crete, Homewood, Flossmoor, Willow Springs, Frankfort and Mokena.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Jacob P. Kozlowski graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.
He is the son of Deborah Kozlowski, of Hometown; and grandson of Anselmo Zuniga, of Hickory Hills. Kozlowski is a 2005 graduate of Brother Rice High School in Chicago.
Air Force Airman Earl W. Pote graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.
He is the son of David and Deena Pote, of Hickory Hills and a 2008 graduate of Stagg High School in Palos Hills.
Air Force Airman Julia A. Allbritton graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.
She is the daughter of Anthony and Bernice Allbritton, of Robbins. Allbritton is a 2011 graduate of Shepard High School in Palos Heights.
Army National Guard Pvt. Xavier J. Robertson graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C.
He is the son of Catherine Shelton, of Richton Park, and a 2012 graduate of Crete-Monee High School in Crete.
Air Force Airman George J. Jackson graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio.
He is the son of Robyn and George Jackson, of Homewood, and is a 2011 graduate of Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
Air Force Airman Alec T. Depaola graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio. Depaola is the son of Robin Depaola, of Willow Springs; and Terry Depaola, of Burr Ridge.
Peloquin receives award
Army Cadet Brett E. Peloquin received the George C. Marshall Award during an awards ceremony at the Marshall Center at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va.
The award is presented annually to the most outstanding senior Army Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets in military science studies and leadership values in each battalion at universities or colleges.
This is a national award and the highest award an ROTC cadet can receive.
He is the son of Steven Peloquin, of Mokena; and grandson of George Long, of Frankfort. Peloquin is a 2009 graduate of Lincoln-Way East High School in Frankfort and a student at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
