THE SKINNY

Dominic Lagone put on a first-half show with three touchdowns as Providence took a 35-0 lead over visiting De La Salle in the Catholic League crossover. Both teams are 2-1.

TURNING POINT

With his team up 14-0, Noah Cralle returned a punt deep into De La Salle territory. Lagone hit pay dirt two plays later on a 12-yard rumble up the gut. Providence didn’t allow a first down until De La Salle’s fifth possession.

THE STAR

Lagone showed elusiveness in the open field en route to 197 yards and two scores on 13 carries. He added a three catches, including a one-handed grab he turned into a 17-yard touchdown.

BY THE NUMBERS

Vanderbilt-bound Mikale Wilbon showed blazing speed on a 65-yard jaunt for a score for the Meteors, but Providence bottled him up for most of the contest. Bryce Sutherland added seven catches for 133 yards and two touchdowns for De La Salle. Providence quarterback Justin Hunniford hit Nate Vejvoda for two of his four touchdown passes.
