Lincoln-Way West (4-1, 3-0 SouthWest Suburban Red) avenged last season’s 17-0 loss to Andrew (2-3, 1-2). Javier Montalvo totaled 355 yards of offense and five touchdowns for the Warriors.
Andrew drove 72 yards and was faced with a fourth-and-1 at the Lincoln-Way West 12. The Thunderbolts fumbled on the play, which was recovered by West’s Zach Speaker at the Warriors 8. West drove 92 yards from there for its first touchdown.
Montalvo was a human wrecking ball, bouncing off would-be tacklers to total 261 rushing and 94 receiving yards. His touchdowns covered 4, 6, 52, 83 and 72 yards.
Lincoln-Way West scored on its first three possessions, the first coming via an Andrew fumble inside the West 10. The Warriors have allowed a combined 20 points in their last four games.
“Our defense stepped it up, and we came out here with the mentality to run it down their throats.”
