THE SKINNY

Marist (5-3,4-2) took advantage of seven Benet (6-2, 3-2) turnovers in the first half to open an astounding 42-7 lead after two quarters in the East Suburban Conference shocker. Marist converted five of those turnovers into touchdowns. Nic Weishar had a 14 yard interception return for a touchdown and a 23 yard touchdown reception. He barely missed a third touchdown after being tackled at the one yard line after a 37 yard interception return.

TURNING POINT

Benet trailed 14-0 early when Ryan Parks cut the lead to 14-7 on a 90 yard kickoff return. Benet held Marist on the next offensive possession but Weishar put the Redhawks back on track with his 23 yard interception return on the ensuing Benet possession.

THE STAR

The Marist defense and special teams which produced 8 turnovers on the game leading to 35 points. Besides Weishar’s two interceptions, Ryan Mishka had two picks as well.

THE NUMBERS

Marist quarterback Jack Donegan was 20-for-27 for 279 yards with three touchdowns. Flynn Nagel had six catches for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Weishar finished with nine catches for 90 yards.
