The roots of the Beverly Theatre Guild go back to 1929 as a program of the Chicago Park District. In 1963, a group of regulars from that theater program decided to branch out in the belief that they could experiment and prosper independently.
In 1988, the Beverly Theatre Guild staged "The Desk Set," which was the show that originally launched the community theater group on May 17, 1963, at what was then St. Xavier College in Chicago.
