Boys Bowling
Hinsdale South Sectional: Champion Richards (6,322 series) and runner-up Oak Lawn (6,134) both advanced to the state meet. Richards was led by Zak Engstrom (1,349), who was third at Willowbrook Lanes. His teammate, Andrew Byland (1,318), was fifth. Ryan Campin (1,319) was fourth in sparking Oak Lawn. Argo’s Gerald Regep (1,363) placed second in securing an individual berth on the state level.
Lindblom Sectional: Chris Ciciora (1,307) won first place in pacing St. Rita (5,878) to the team crown at Skyway Bowl. Anthony Sanders (1,218) added a fifth-place finish for the Mustangs.
Minooka Sectional: Lockport’s Brian Hodolitz (1,260) and Lincoln-Way West’s Nick Dybas (1,256) were the top area bowlers at Channahon Lanes. In the team standings, Lincoln-Way West (6,065) was fourth and Lockport (5,981) fifth.
Girls Bowling
SouthWest Suburban Blue Meet: Lockport (6,064) won first place at Orland Bowl. Sandburg (5,302) was third and Lincoln-Way East (4,796) fourth in the six-team tournament. The champion Porters were led by Megan Szczepanski (1,277), who finished third. Her teammates, Lauren Troha (1,260) and Bri Zabierek (1,259) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Boys Basketball
Illinois Lutheran 75, Michigan Lutheran 62: Austin Wood scored 21 points for host Illinois Lutheran (8-5).
Walther Lutheran 57, Chicago Christian 48: Michael Kamp racked up 22 points for visiting Chicago Christian (6-14, 1-6) in the Suburban Christian Gold.
Savanna Shootout
Marian Catholic 64, Bettendorf (Iowa) 51: Tyler Ulis netted 27 points to lead Marian Catholic (10-6). Erik Crittenden added 11 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans.
Young Shootout
Crane 66, T.F. North 62 (OT): Greg McClain scored 17 points for T.F. North (8-12). Ashanti Randolph added 15 points for the Meteors, while Torin Washington contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Girls Basketball
No. 1 Marist 71, Providence 42: JeTaun Rouse’s 21 points sparked host Marist (21-1, 6-0) in the East Suburban Catholic. Claire Ryan added 14 points for the RedHawks. Anna Novak contributed 12 points for Providence (11-11, 2-4).
Glenbrook South 65, No. 7 Morgan Park 61: Morgan Park slipped to 15-7.
No. 8 Mother McAuley 58, Richards 41: Alyssa Siwek scored 14 points to lead visiting Mother McAuley (14-9). Courtney Owens chipped in 13 points for the Mighty Macs and Elizabeth Nye had 11. Brianna LeBeau provided 10 points for Richards (10-8).
Stagg 50, Bradley 38: Revi McMahon netted 12 points for host Stagg (13-5, 7-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
Waubonsie Valley 55, Lockport 30: Taylor Quain had 12 points and five rebounds for visiting Lockport (5-13).
Ag. Science 53, Washington 30: Kate Patnett totaled 18 points and seven rebounds to pace host Ag. Science (13-5, 10-3) in the Public League Chicago South.
Chicago Christian 42, Aurora Christian 38: Lauren Kuipers scored eight points for host Chicago Christian (6-13, 1-7) in the Suburban Christian Gold.
Sweet 16 Tournament
No. 2 Lincoln-Way East 57, Johnsburg 32: Caitlin McMahon had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead visiting Lincoln-Way East (16-2). Taylor Johnson tacked on 18 points, nine steals and five assists for the Griffins.
No. 6 Marian Catholic 54, Maine South 44: Ashton Millender tossed in 19 points for host Marian Catholic (15-8). Teniya Page (12 points) and Alanna Ferry (8 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists) also starred for the Spartans.
Boys Swimming
Lockport Invitational: Juan Valdez, Zack Amendola, Ray Dunne and Brandon Hadhazy won the 400-yard free relay (3 minutes, 22.42 seconds) for Stagg (358 points), which captured top honors among the 11 squads. Lockport (263) was sixth and Lincoln-Way Central (128) eighth. The Knights were led by Cody Moris, who prevailed in the 100 backstroke (55.50 seconds).
Shepard Invitational: Zack Rentner won the 200 freestyle (1:51.80) and 500 freestyle (5:03.45) in leading Andrew (354) to the championship. Latin (313) was second, followed by Shepard (232) and Oak Forest (166) in the 11-team meet.
Woodstock Invitational: Lincoln-Way North (696.5) captured first place behind Evan Surna, who prevailed in the 100 backstroke (56.67) and 200 individual medley (2:06.76).
Girls Gymnastics
York Invitational: Andrew’s Jaime Valla scored a 9.200 in winning the balance beam. Lincoln-Way co-op (137.200) was second in the team standings behind Glenbard West (142.500).
