Taylor Dignan, a junior goalie with Sandburg hockey, played youth hockey for the Orland Vikings. He recently was named to the All-State team.
What’s your favorite thing about being a goalie?
The big games. I like making big saves and being under pressure and coming out on top.
Why did you choose to be a goalie
No idea. I just like it. Patrick Roy (Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche goalie) was my favorite player growing up.
State title game. You’re in it. What team do you most want to play for the championship? Why?
Providence. A lot of my friends are on that team.
If you could have your pick, what celebrity would you choose as your prom date?
Miranda Kerr (Victoria’s Secret).
Given the chance, what person, dead or alive, would you most like to meet? Why?
Claude Giroux (Philadelphia Flyers). He’s my favorite player.
Athletes, especially goalies, are known to be superstitious. What about you?
Oh, yeah. My water bottle has to be in a certain spot on the net; I have to stretch at the same spot on the ice; I drink only blue Gatorade after the second period. I tape my stick the same way before every game.
This is one of the most talented Sandburg teams. What are the postseason expectations?
We have high expectations for ourselves. People may not feel the same way about us as they do for St. Rita or New Trier (Green), but we’re climbing up the ladder fast.
You’re on a deserted island. You can have an endless supply of one food. What would it be?
Nonna’s Pizza. Cheese only.
As told to Pat Disabato
