Class 4A Mount Carmel Regional
Oak Lawn 11, Argo 1: Bob Kametas (2-for-3) doubled and knocked in five runs to lift Oak Lawn in the six-inning semifinal.
Class 4A Oak Forest Regional
Rich Central 8, Tinley Park 5: Brandon Fowler, Ryan Calvin and Jordan Smith clubbed home runs for Rich Central (21-16) in the semifinal. Tinley Park finished 19-17.
Class 4A Providence Regional
Lincoln-Way East 10, Lincoln-Way Central 8: Kevin Duffin (4-for-4, 2 doubles) hit a three-run homer and totaled four RBI to spark Lincoln-Way East (21-12) in semifinal play. Rick Amaya had a double and three RBI for Lincoln-Way Central (17-15).
Class 4A Reavis Regional
Lyons 10, Reavis 7: Mike Lally (2-for-3) racked up two RBI for Reavis (17-19) in the semifinal.
Class 3A Crete-Monee Regional
Lincoln-Way West 14, Crete-Monee 9: Dan Brokop went 4-for-5 with a double, home run and six RBI in pacing Lincoln-Way West (22-13). Jake O’Leary tacked on four RBI for the Warriors in the semifinal. Joey Calderone (3-for-3) and Cameron Bass each recorded a double and three RBI for Crete-Monee (22-12).
Class 3A Joliet Catholic Regional
Bremen 10, Morgan Park 9: Shamari Warner (4-for-4, double) and Eric West (2-for-3, triple) each contributed three RBI for Bremen (17-19) in semifinal play.
Class 2A Coal City Sectional
Chicago Christian 4, Wilmington 3: Chicago Christian (26-12) prevailed in the semifinal when Dylan Marinec was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh. Trent Overzet (11-3) allowed five hits and struck out nine in pitching a complete game for the Knights.
Class 1A Putnam County Sectional
Illinois Lutheran 12, North Shore Country Day 7: Jared Buzan was the winning pitcher for Illinois Lutheran (21-7), which blasted four home runs in advancing to the title game.
Softball
Class 3A Bremen Regional
Oak Forest 10, Washington 0: Gianna Kuras went 3-for-4 with four RBI in guiding Oak Forest (23-12) to a berth in the championship. Bengals pitcher Emily Larsen tossed a one-hitter and struck out 13 in the six-inning game.
Class 2A Genoa-Kingston Sectional
Lisle 10, Mount Assisi 4: Mackenzie Buchelt (3-for-5) provided three RBI for Lisle (29-3) in the semifinal. Mount Assisi closed with a 12-16 record.
Boys Track & Field
Class 1A State Meet: Beecher’s Grant Nykaza posted the second-fastest time in the mile run (4 minutes, 22.55 seconds) in qualifying for Saturday’s finals at O’Brien Stadium in Charleston. Nykaza was second in the event last season.
