Lincoln-Way West 1, Illiana Christian 0: Ryan Curry scored off an assist from Kevin Staniszewski to spark visiting Lincoln-Way West (1-0). Tony Prospero and Mason McGowan shared the shutout.
Stagg 0, Wheaton North 0: Dominic Jaworski and Erick Estrada combined to make three saves for visiting Stagg in its season debut.
River Valley/Southland Challenge
Crete-Monee 7, St. Anne 0: Austin Palanca’s hat trick propelled host Crete-Monee in its season opener. Grant Park topped Rich East 6-2 in the other match at Crete-Monee.
Beecher 3, Rich South 2: Marshall Landis scored twice, including the match-winner with four minutes remaining, to lift Beecher (1-0). Jack Strick had the other goal for the Bobcats in the contest at Illinois Lutheran.
Illinois Lutheran 14, Rich Central 0: Justin Clayton’s hat trick powered host Illinois Lutheran in the opening round. Eric Dorn, Cole Richter and Charlie Wegley added two goals apiece for the Chargers.
Windy City Ram Classic: Tournament host Reavis was the site of both play-in-round matches as Solorio edged Oak Lawn 2-1 and Lincoln Park beat Richards 4-0.
Boys Golf
Oak Lawn 173, Bremen 189: Medalist Brandon Murley shot a 39 to lead Bremen in the South Suburban crossover at Stony Creek. Matt Dunne added a 41 for the Spartans. Zach Crim paced Bremen with a 42.
Oak Forest 157, Eisenhower 192: Oak Forest’s Dave Karwoski led all individuals with an even-par 36 at George Dunne National. Mitch Budil and Jake Toppen chipped in 39s for the Bengals in the South Suburban crossover. Anthony Castro’s 46 was the top score for Eisenhower.
Lincoln-Way East 152, Oswego 162: Tyler Kelly, of Lincoln-Way East, captured medalist honors with a 1-over 36 at Green Garden’s Emerald Course. Matt Stoner and Matt Contey tacked on 38s for the Griffins, while Dan Robustelli carded a 40.
Lincoln-Way North 159, Rich South 240: Matt Williams was the medalist with a 2-over 38 for Lincoln-Way North at Deer Creek.
Tinley Park 202, Reavis 212: Reavis’ Jim DeGrado (42) secured medalist accolades in the South Suburban crossover at Ravisloe. Jim Kelly’s 44 led Tinley Park.
Evergreen Park 175, Hillcrest 234: J.R. Wazio was the medalist with a 42 for Evergreen Park in the South Suburban crossover at Coyote Run.
Lemont 163, Richards 189: Lemont teammates Matt Groebe and Sam Marzo each shot 4-over 40 in sharing medalist honors in the South Suburban crossover at Cog Hill’s No. 1 Course. Matt Kendryna, of Richards, was one shot off the pace.
Wheaton Academy 150, Chicago Christian 167: Alek Svabek (37) and Adam Beezhold (40) produced the lowest rounds for Chicago Christian in the Suburban Christian dual. Wheaton Academy’s Zack Spear was the medalist with an even-par 35 at Pheasant Run in St. Charles.
Illiana Christian 160, Crete-Monee 170: Crete-Monee’s Miles Bailey shot a 35 in earning medalist recognition at University Golf Club.
Girls Golf
Lemont 189, West Aurora 192: Co-medalists Nadya Cortes and Chanelle Fortier each shot 46 for Lemont at Orchard Valley in Aurora.
Beecher 209, Watseka 212: Haleigh Kuhn shot a 50 to lead Beecher at Cardinal Creek’s North Course. Watseka’s Kate Mueller led all golfers with a 48.
Andrew Scramble: Lincoln-Way East’s “A” squad shot a 6-under 23 to capture the crown at Silver Lake’s Rolling Hills Course. Stagg’s “A” team (24) was second and Providence (25) third in the 18-team field.
Girls Tennis
Plainfield North 5, Lincoln-Way West 2: Emily Maynard (No. 1) and Katie Kaczmarz (No. 2) recorded singles wins for visiting Lincoln-Way West (0-1).
