Football

No. 2 Mount Carmel 32, St. Patrick 12: A pair of touchdown runs by Matt Domer (16, 4 yards) powered Mount Carmel in the opening game at Soldier Field. Caravan quarterback Don Butkus added a 7-yard scoring pass to Dominic Villa.

No. 7 Thornton 56, Orr 8: Jahwon Brown passed for 108 yards and three touchdowns for host Thornton.

Rich Central 24, Joliet Central 14: William Berry’s 84-yard kickoff return for a touchdown sparked visiting Rich Central. Olympians quarterback Jeremiah Mitchell added 190 yards passing, including a 52-yard scoring pass to Jalen Bovia.

Bloom 20, Thornwood 14: Kendall McGinnis was 7-of-12 passing for 107 yards and a score in spearheading visiting Bloom. Thornwood’s P.J. Bolton was 13-of-26 for 160 yards and a touchdown.

Evergreen Park 27, Phillips 12: Brandon White ran for two touchdowns (1, 45 yards) and also threw a 15-yard scoring strike to Mike Reuter in guiding visiting Evergreen Park.

Joliet West 48, Thornridge 0: Anthony DiNardo threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead host Joliet West.

Bogan 38, Ag. Science 0: Christopher Johnson’s four touchdowns sank Ag. Science at Stagg Stadium.

Boys Soccer

Sandburg 1, Maine South 0: Joe Longhi’s second-half goal was the difference for visiting Sandburg (1-0-1).

Bradley Tournament

Lincoln-Way Central 4, Danville 1: C.J. Zuraitis’ two goals and two assists enabled Lincoln-Way Central (3-1) to finish third. Zuraitis also scored in the Knights’ 3-1 semifinal loss to Herscher.

Lemont Tournament

Lemont 3, Lincoln-Way West 1: Kyle Hamann was among the goal scorers for host Lemont (2-1-1). Kip Pavlovich had the goal for Lincoln-Way West (2-1).

River Valley/Southland Challenge

Crete-Monee 3, Illinois Lutheran 2: Austin Palanca, Brandon Hickey and Fernando Aguirre scored for Crete-Monee (4-0) in the championship. Justin Clayton and Eric Dorn had goals for host Illinois Lutheran (3-1).

Beecher 7, Rich East 3: Marshall Landis and Cody Wyatt each contributed two goals and an assist for Beecher (3-1). In other matches, Grant Park beat Rich South 2-0 and St. Anne bested Rich Central 7-2.

Windy City Ram Classic

Marist 5, Little Village 0: Billy Miller, Mike Trevino and Charlie Earner were among the goal scorers for host Marist (3-0) in the quarterfinal.

Andrew 3, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: Goals by Glorind Lisha, Jesus Mendez and Jonathan Sustaita propelled Andrew (3-0) in the quarterfinal. Homewood-Flossmoor fell to 2-1.

Reavis 2, Shepard 1: Kamil Szczesniak’s goal enabled host Reavis (3-0) to advance to the semifinal round. Tommy Eyer scored for Shepard (3-1).

St. Joseph 1, Providence 0: Providence (2-1) came up short in the quarterfinal.

Argo 2, Fenwick 1: Jonathan Marquez and Erik Martinez scored goals in leading Argo (3-1) to a berth in the consolation championship.

Marian Catholic 2, Bloom 1: Goals by Liam Fagan and Alec Guarino put Marian Catholic (3-1) into the consolation championship.

Argo 2, Joliet West 0: Luis Lezama and Jonathan Marquez scored for Argo in its first match.

Marian Catholic 3, Lincoln Park 0: Keegan Oldenburg recorded one goal and one assist for Marian Catholic in its opener. Eisenhower also won twice in consolation play, beating Bremen 2-0 and Bolingbrook 1-0.

St. Rita 2, Richards 1: Jack Collins scored both goals for St. Rita (1-2) in the consolation bracket.

Oak Lawn 3, De La Salle 2: Steve Henry registered a goal and an assist for Oak Lawn (2-1) in the consolation bracket.

Stagg 2, Francis Parker 0: Conrad Polinski and Sebastian Kolpac had goals for Stagg (1-2-1) in consolation action. In other matches, Glenbard South beat Mount Carmel 3-1, Fenwick defeated St. Laurence 2-0, Bremen shut out Kennedy 4-0 and Bloom bested Thornton co-op 3-0.

Girls Volleyball

Normal Community 25-14-26, No. 6 Lincoln-Way Central 19-25-24: Kaitlyn Siadek dished out 24 assists and Amanda Dolan added 12 kills for host Lincoln-Way Central (1-1).

Wheaton North Tournament: No. 7 Stagg (4-1) beat Montini 23-25, 25-21, 25-11 in the third-place match. Andrew (2-4) finished eighth after going 2-3. Ashley O’Brien had 24 kills for the Thunderbolts, who lost all three of their matches on the day. Oak Forest (4-2) captured the Blue Division – ninth place - after beating Buffalo Grove 25-23, 25-15. Kate Zickus had 28 assists for the Bengals, while Alissa Tattas contributed 23 digs and 16 kills.

Metea Valley Tournament: Homewood-Flossmoor (4-2)fell to Metea Valley 26-24, 27-25 in the title round. In the third-place match, Lincoln-Way West (3-3) outlasted Oswego East 31-29, 21-25, 15-12. Sarah Wegrzyn led the Warriors with 35 kills and 41 digs. Kelly Staack (35 assists) and Hannah Chesley (40 digs) also contributed.

Benet Tournament: Kiley Rendak totaled 22 kills and 24 digs over two days in helping Lemont (5-2) win the Silver Division for fifth place in the eight-team meet. The Indians went 3-2 overall, the last match a 25-21, 17-25, 25-10 decision over Neuqua Valley. Megan Litoborski paced Lemont with 36 assists, while Haley Sullivan accumulated 26 digs.

Chicago Christian Tournament: Tina Massey captured All-Tournament honors with 28 kills and 17 digs for Illiana Christian (2-4), which fell to De La Salle 25-14, 25-12 in the third-place match. Mount Assisi (3-3) secured fifth place by virtue of a 25-23, 25-19 win over Herscher. The Eagles were led by Mary Kate Wetzel (84 assists) and All-Tournament selection Anna Broadhurst (33 kills).

Bremen Tournament: Richards and Hillcrest each won two of three matches in the six-team invitational. Richards beat Thornton 25-12, 25-16 and Bremen 25-19, 25-18. Hillcrest, meanwhile, bested Thornridge 25-8, 25-9 and Rich South 25-13, 25-20. Latin went 3-0 in capturing first place.

Girls Golf

Lincoln-Way Cup: Medalist Katie Reno shot a 3-over-par 61 in pacing Lincoln-Way East (261) to the team crown at Square Links in Frankfort. Kelly Sterling (63) and Hannah Petraitis (66) also starred for the Griffins. Jill Galich carded a 68 to lead runner-up Lincoln-Way North (300).

Girls Tennis

Downers Grove South Invitational: Caroline Plecki won twice at No. 2 singles and once at No. 1 singles in starring for Lockport (3-1), which defeated Hersey and Rolling Meadows by identical 4-1 scores. The Porters also lost to Rockford Boylan 4-1.

Hillcrest triangular: Hillary Van Drunen won at top-seeded singles as Illiana Christian defeated Rich East 5-0 and Hillcrest 3-2. Tara Pollard posted a victory at No. 1 singles in helping Hillcrest top Rich East 5-0.

Naperville Central quadrangular: Lincoln-Way Central’s Ashley Hacker won twice at top-seeded singles as the Knights beat Plainfield Central 6-2 and Palatine 5-3. Lincoln-Way Central also fell to Naperville Central 8-0.

West Aurora quadrangular: Kellen Dempsey and Maddy Wantuck (No. 3 doubles) won two matches for Mother McAuley, which lost to West Aurora 4-3, Downers Grove North 6-1 and Batavia 7-0.

Girls Swimming

Lincoln-Way Central 112, Hoffman Estates 59: Kim Bernhard won the 100-yard backstroke (1 minute, 1.71 seconds) and 200 individual medley (2:18.82) to spark host Lincoln-Way Central.
