High School Sports Roundup for Aug. 29, 2012

No. 1 Marist 25-25, Wheaton North 7-17: Mallory Salis finished with 10 kills and 14 digs to lead visiting Marist (1-1). Taylor Holder led the RedHawks in assists with 12.

No. 3 Lincoln-Way East 25-25, Plainfield South 8-16: Taylor Nirchi had 13 kills and Dana Van Dyck added 14 digs for visiting Lincoln-Way East (1-0).

No. 4 Mother McAuley 25-23-29, Downers Grove South 15-25-27: Courtney Joyce had 22 assists and Carla Cahill chipped in 25 digs to guide visiting Mother McAuley (3-0). Kelly Clarke (9 kills) also starred for the Mighty Macs.

Richards 25-25, Tinley Park 22-15: Kara Rockey’s 19 digs led host Richards (5-1, 2-0) in the South Suburban crossover.

Shepard 25-25, Bremen 22-14: Natalie Carberry had five kills and five aces for host Shepard (3-2, 2-0) in the South Suburban crossover.

Thornwood 25-19-25, Eisenhower 13-25-17: Aaliyah Wricks totaled eight kills, seven digs and five aces for host Thornwood.

Immaculate Conception 25-25, Mount Assisi 13-14: MaryKate Deely had six kills for host Mount Assisi (4-4).

Boys Soccer

Andrew 1, Marian Catholic 0: Glorind Lisha scored off an assist from Brett Kantor to pace visiting Andrew (5-0). J.J. Piazza registered the shutout.

Illinois Lutheran 3, Morgan Park Academy 1: Justin Clayton’s hat trick propelled visiting Illinois Lutheran (5-1).

Chicago Christian 5, Guerin 1: Getenet Timmerman netted three goals for host Chicago Christian (2-2-1) in its Suburban Christian opener.

Beecher 9, Bishop McNamara 1: Jacob Schwartz scored three times to lift host Beecher (4-1).

Shepard 3, Homewood-Flossmoor 2: Tommy Eyer had a goal and two assists for host Shepard (4-2). Sam Spencer had a goal for Homewood-Flossmoor (2-3).

Boys Golf

Lincoln-Way North 155, T.F. South 199: Lincoln-Way North teammates Drew Korosic and John Orowick each shot 3-over 38 in sharing medalist honors at Ravisloe.

Montini 176, Chicago Christian 178: Alek Svabek shot a team-best 41 for Chicago Christian in the Suburban Christian dual at Big Run.

Rich South 207, Hillcrest 224: Medalist William Nichols posted a 46 to guide Rich South at Deer Creek.

Illiana Christian 158, Beecher 166: Illiana Christian’s Jake Boender (1-over 37) led all golfers at Cardinal Creek. Michael Barber (39) was tops for Beecher.

Andrew 174, Bolingbrook 183: Colin Mangin and Gary Sowell had 42s in sharing medalist honors for Andrew in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Bolingbrook Golf Club.

Girls Golf

Stagg 200, Homewood-Flossmoor 218: Taylor Lambertsen had an even-par 37 for Stagg in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Silver Lake’s North Course.

Sandburg 176, Lincoln-Way North 180: Sandburg’s Frankie Saban was the medalist with a 39 in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Silver Lake North.

Lincoln-Way East 152, Andrew 240: Medalist Kelly Sterling shot a 1-under 34 for Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Green Garden’s Emerald Course.

Carmel triangular: Medalist Bree Veazey shot an even-par 36 as Marian Catholic (189) finished second behind Carmel (172) in the East Suburban Catholic meet at Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein.

Girls Tennis

Reavis 4, Mother McAuley 2: Phan Le won at top-seeded singles for host Reavis.

Chicago Christian 5, Illiana Christian 2: Raquel Hamstra and Megan Wise won at No. 1 doubles for host Chicago Christian.

Bremen 4, Rich South 1: Jessie Ritz (No. 2 singles) was among the winners for host Bremen.

Homewood-Flossmoor 6, Lincoln-Way West 1: Faith Huckabee (No. 1 singles) improved to 6-0 in leading host Homewood-Flossmoor in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Providence 6, Plainfield South 1: Sisters Maggie and Kelly Ruane won at No. 1 doubles for host Providence.
