Football

No. 4 St. Rita 49, Danville 7: Guerby Ministre posted touchdown runs of 22 and 4 yards for visiting St. Rita (2-0). Derrick Miles (34) and Tom McCormick (22) added scoring runs for the Mustangs.

No. 6 Lemont 42, Riverside-Brookfield 0: Chris Giatris had 17 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns to spark host Lemont (2-0). Indians quarterback Zach Brosseau added scoring passes to Drew Slee (7 yards) and Joe Hehir (23).

T.F. South 54, Urban Prep 12: Joe Young and Trent Gilbert each ran for two touchdowns in lifting host T.F. South (1-1). The Rebels also cashed in on a 93-yard pass from Peyton Padjen to Saleem Sanford.

Shepard 48, Solorio 8: Jimmy McClinton had three touchdown passes and also scored on a 53-yard run to lead host Shepard (1-1). Two of McClinton’s scoring tosses went to Londell Lee (4, 6 yards), with the other caught by Kyle Dye (25).

Evergreen Park 52, TEAM Englewood 0: Brandon White scored on a 52-yard run and also threw a 64-yard TD pass to Jaquet McClinton in guiding host Evergreen Park (2-0).

Lincoln-Way North 62, Hillcrest 28: Jack Irace and Julian Hylton ran for three touchdowns apiece to power visiting Lincoln-Way North (1-1). Hylton’s performance featured scoring jaunts of 88 and 52 yards, while Irace crossed the goal line on a 51-yard scamper. Hillcrest (0-2) was led by quarterback Devonte Brewer, who ran for two scores and passed for a third. Kwamaine Tarver added a 55-yard run to pay dirt for the Hawks.

St. Laurence 32, Hubbard 31: Mike Fowler’s 2-yard touchdown blast with 18 seconds remaining was the difference for host St. Laurence (1-1). Fowler, who also scored on a 50-yard dash, totaled 119 yards on 20 carries. Bob Kelly (10-of-15, 135 yards) added a pair of TD passes for the Vikings.

Argo 40, Ridgewood 7: Jason Noel was 11-of-16 passing for 134 yards and two touchdowns to lead visiting Argo (2-0). Noel also scored on a 1-yard run. Among the other standouts for the Argonauts was Brandon Wells, who reached the end zone on a 90-yard kickoff return.

Glenbard South 31, Bloom 27: Quarterback Kendall McGinnis had two touchdown runs for visiting Bloom (1-1).

Ag. Science 22, Marine Military 16: Ag. Science (1-1) prevailed at Eckersall Stadium.

Momence 56, Chicago Christian 12: Chicago Christian (1-1) lost in Palos Heights.

Boys Soccer

Tinley Park 7, Rich East 0: Ralph Pesina scored three goals and James Milsaps dished out four assists to lead host Tinley Park (2-1). Bobby Neylon added two goals for the Titans.

Illinois Lutheran 3, Grant Park 0: Eric Dorn scored twice and Jacob Heyn made five saves (5th shutout) to spark visiting Illinois Lutheran (6-1, 2-0) in the River Valley.

Girls Volleyball

Lyons quadrangular: Dakota Hampton totaled 31 kills and 16 digs as No. 5 Sandburg opened its season by defeating Lake Forest 25-12, 25-14, Lyons 25-17, 25-20 and York 25-18, 25-19. The Eagles also received 45 assists from Sami Knight and 16 kills from Kristy Theisen.

Thornwood 25-25, East Chicago Central 14-12: Briana Davis had 13 assists and four aces to pace host Thornwood. Melva Smith added seven kills for the Thunderbirds.

Boys Golf

Plainfield East 171, Lincoln-Way West 173: Plainfield East’s David Pikul and Lincoln-Way West’s Andrew O’Keefe each shot 40 in sharing medalist honors at The Sanctuary. Dan Robson and Frank Mulder added 44s for Lincoln-Way West.

Girls Golf

Mother McAuley 181, Mount Assisi 214: Medalist Carly Bettinardi shot a 41 to guide Mother McAuley in the GCAC dual at Cog Hill’s No. 1 Course. Jesse Batsakis (49) had the top score for Mount Assisi.
