Quarterback Jacob Platt threw two touchdown passes and ran for another as Andrew defeated Eisenhower 35-7 on Friday night in Tinley Park.

Running back Jarvion Franklin (8 carries, 112 yards) staked the Thunderbolts (1-1) to a 14-0 lead by the 5:30 mark of the first quarter by scoring on runs of 33 yards and 22 yards. Platt threw a swing pass to receiver Dennis Vilimek, who turned it into a 69-yard scoring play. The PAT made it 21-0 with 1:21 left in the quarter.

A 26-yard touchdown run by Cardinals quarterback Dion Parker helped cut the Andrew lead to 21-7 with 5:49 to play in the second quarter. Platt’s 53-yard TD strike to Vilimek with zeroes showing on the clock made it 28-7 Andrew lead at halftime.

Platt (9-of-12 for 158 yards) finished the scoring with a 67-yard run with 11:45 to play in the fourth quarter.

“It was a total team effort tonight,” Platt said. “The linemen blocked and the defense stopped them. We held them to no points in the second half. It was a big win for our team.”

The T-bolts defense intercepted Parker four times. Linebacker Kevin Walsh had two interceptions.

“We talked all week about execution and focus,” Andrew coach Jim Malec said. “We wanted to get our defense off the field and put the ball in the hands of our offense. That’s what it comes down to for us.”

Kenny Baker rushed for 65 yards on 15 carries for the Cardinals (0-2).
