Jake Hogan returned the second-half kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to propel Morris to a 15-13 victory Friday night over visiting Richards.

Jeff Perry (10 carries, 51 yards) and Collin Grogan (9 carries, 33 yards) led the Redskins. Quarterback Tommy Mister (10-of-23, 169 yards, TD) and Tacari Carpenter (4 catches, 105 yards, TD) led the Bulldogs.

“I can’t say enough about our defense,” Morris coach Alan Thorson said. “We have put them in terrible spots on the field for two weeks in a row now and they have come up huge.”

Richards outgained Morris 184-169 in totals yards but committed four turnovers in the game.

After turning the ball over on their first possession, the Redskins (2-0) got on the board first as quarterback Zach Cinnamon scored on a 1-yard keeper. Morris converted the 2-point conversion for an 8-0 lead with 3:05 left in the first half.

After a successful fake punt conversion for first down, Richards (1-1) scored when Mister connected with Tacari Carpenter on a 61-yard touchdown to close to within 8-6 with 1:19 left in the half.

Richards got to within 15-13 when Mister scored on a 2-yard touchdown with 8:41 left in the third quarter. The Bulldogs offense turned the ball over on each of its final four possessions.
