High School Sports Roundup for Sept. 6, 2012

Girls Volleyball

No. 4 Lincoln-Way East 25-25, Andrew 11-20: Taylor Nirchi recorded 12 assists, 12 service points and six aces for host Lincoln-Way East (4-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Tara Adams had seven kills for Andrew (2-7).

No. 6 Lincoln-Way Central 25-25, No. 7 Providence 22-20: Kaitlyn Siadek dished out 16 assists and Amanda Dolan added seven kills and six blocks to pace visiting Lincoln-Way Central (3-1). Krista Brakauskas had six assists and five kills for Providence (6-2).

T.F. South 25-25, Richards 10-16: Abbe Mullen had 13 assists to lead visiting T.F. South (8-3, 3-0) in the South Suburban crossover.

Thornwood 25-25, Rich Central 13-16: Aaliyah Wricks totaled seven digs, five kills and four aces for visiting Thornwood (3-1).

Oak Lawn 25-25, Lemont 23-22: Simona Tomczak’s 17 kills and 10 digs led visiting Oak Lawn (4-1, 3-0) in the South Suburban crossover. Rachel Kestian added 22 assists and eight digs for the Spartans. Lemont fell to 7-3, 2-1.

Glenbard South 25-25, Illiana Christian 18-18: Tina Massey notched five kills and five digs for visiting Illiana Christian (3-6, 1-1) in the Metro Suburban match.

Lincoln-Way West 25-25, Bloom 21-16: Kelly Staack distributed 10 assists and Sarah Wegrzyn had 12 kills to pace visiting Lincoln-Way West (6-3).

Tinley Park 25-22-25, Evergreen Park 5-25-17: Visiting Tinley Park was a winner in the South Suburban crossover. Chelsea Christopher had six kills and seven digs for Evergreen Park (4-6, 0-3).

Thornton 24-25-25, Seton 26-22-15: Thornton posted the win in Harvey. Kyla Mays recorded 15 digs for Seton (1-3).

Illinois Lutheran 25-25, St. Anne 10-16: Kathy Wilkening registered eight kills and eight blocks to lead host Illinois Lutheran (3-9-1, 1-1) in the River Valley.

Lincoln-Way Invitational

Sandburg 6, Shepard 1: Joe Longhi and Zack Biel were among the goal scorers for visiting Sandburg (3-2-2). Shepard dropped to 5-5.

Reavis 2, Marian Catholic 1: Kamil Szczesniak and Roger Valdez scored for host Reavis (7-1).

Marist 4, Joliet West 0: Jon Peters had a goal and two assists to lead visiting Marist (6-1-1).

Lincoln-Way West 1, Providence 1: Ian McGrath’s goal with 12 minutes remaining enabled host Lincoln-Way West (4-2-2) to earn a draw. Ben Salvador scored for Providence (5-2-1).

Oak Lawn 2, Tinley Park 1: Konrad Nykiel and Steve Henry netted goals for host Oak Lawn (5-1, 2-0) in the South Suburban crossover.

Bremen 5, Oak Forest 0: Erik Avalos’ hat trick powered host Bremen (4-2, 2-0) in the South Suburban Blue.

Illinois Lutheran 5, St. Anne 0: Justin Clayton scored four goals to propel visiting Illinois Lutheran (8-1, 4-0) in the River Valley.

Stagg 3, Brother Rice 0: Panda Papadimitriou, Dino Karas and Phil Kolesinski scored for visiting Stagg (3-2-1).

Lincoln-Way Central 140, Andrew 189: Medalist Bryant Bolden carded a 4-under-par 32 for Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Red dual at Silver Lake’s North Course.

Eisenhower 175, Richards 176: Eisenhower’s Nick Curta (39) was the medalist in the South Suburban Red meet at Stony Creek.

Bremen 170, T.F. North 202: Medalist Tim McDowell’s 1-over 37 led Bremen in the South Suburban Blue dual at Cardinal Creek.

Shepard 178, Argo 204: Colin Cody, of Shepard, was the medalist with a 40 in the South Suburban Red competition at Gleneagles.

Lemont 140, Lockport 151: Medalist Bridget Lynn shot a 1-over 31 for Lemont at Mid-Iron.

Mount Assisi 170, Westmont 181: Mount Assisi’s Jesse Batsakis (38) had the lowest round at Twin Lakes in Westmont.

Joliet Township co-op 209, Lincoln-Way West 210: Alexis Biedrzycki, of Lincoln-Way West, had a 2-over 38 to lead all golfers in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at The Sanctuary.

Mother McAuley 168, Resurrection 209: Medalist Carly Bettinardi had a 1-over 36 for Mother McAuley in the GCAC dual at Indian Boundary.

Eisenhower 3, Bremen 2: Ale Padilla and Melina Castillo won at No. 1 doubles for visiting Eisenhower in the South Suburban crossover.

Tinley Park 4, Richards 1: Jourdan Collins (No. 2 singles) was a winner for host Tinley Park in the South Suburban crossover.

Providence 4, Joliet Catholic 1: Sisters Maggie and Kelly Ruane won at top-seeded doubles to aid visiting Providence in the East Suburban Catholic.

Chicago Christian 4, Rosary 1: Lexi Chionis won at top-seeded singles for host Chicago Christian in the Suburban Christian meet.

Lincoln-Way Central 6, Bradley 1: Jana Mudrock and Marlee McCabe (No. 2) won their doubles match for visiting Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
