Glorind Lisha, a senior who’s also a star guard for the Thunderbolts’ basketball team, was an All-Sectional selection last season when he scored nine goals and dished out nine assists.
This year, he’s led Andrew soccer to a 7-0 start and the championship of the Windy City Ram Classic.
What’s the story behind your first name?
I’m told that my mom liked the song “Gloria,” so she made it into a boy name by adding the ‘ind” to the end of it.
Compare soccer to basketball. What do you prefer about soccer?
I’ve played soccer a lot longer than basketball. I just have a lot of love for the game. I just think soccer is the best sport in the world and I just love playing it.
What makes soccer the best sport in the world?
It’s the combination of anything. You need your physical strength, you need your endurance, you need skill. You need all of that, so that’s what makes it the best.
What are your goals this season?
We just want to make it further in the playoffs than last year and win more games than last year.
What do you think about your team this year?
I think we’re good. I think we have some good young players and we have great senior leadership that’s really good. I think that will carry us a long way.
What’s your biggest strength as a player?
My size and my speed and I think I’m pretty good technically.
What’s on your iPod?
A lot of rap and hip hop, but I like Michael Buble, too, so I’ve got something different.
If you could take any celebrity to prom, who would you choose?
Charlize Theron. I think she’s awesome.
You’re stranded on a deserted island and can have an endless supply of one food. What would it be?
Steak burritos.
Which one of your teammates should have his own reality show?
Probably Austin Stariha. He’s just a funny guy.
As told to Steve Millar
