NASCAR: 2013 Chase for the Cup starting in Joliet

For the third straight year, NASCAR’s 10-race Chase for for the Sprint Cup will begin in Joliet, Chicagoland Speedway officials announced Tuesday.
Chicagoland’s 2013 schedule includes a triple-header Sept. 13-15. It begins with a Friday night race, the American Ethanol 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. The weekend plan matches the 2012 schedule, with the Nationwide circuit’s Dollar General 300 on Saturday and the GEICO 400 on Sunday.
Chicagoland will also host a stand-alone Nationwide race at a date to be determined.
“We are thrilled to kick off the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup for a third consecutive year,” Speedway president Scott Paddock said in a statement. “It is always very special to welcome the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to your market, but being selected to host the first race of the Chase is quite an honor and privilege. We anxiously await the opportunity to build on the excitement created over the past two seasons and will continue to give the Chase the elevated platform it deserves next September.”
