Lockport unable to stop Joliet West’s Brown

It was just like Jordan Brown envisioned it.
The Joliet West running back scored on runs of 26 and 79 yards as the Tigers used big plays to register a 28-7 victory over Lockport in a SouthWest Suburban Blue clash Friday night in Lockport.
The victory improved Joliet West to 3-4, 2-3 and kept its playoff hopes alive. The Porters fell to 1-6, 1-4.
“Our coach (Jason Aubry) has us imagine two big plays before every game,” Brown said. “That’s what I did and it happened just like I thought.”
Jorge Guzman recovered a fumbled snap on a Lockport punt attempt to set up the Tigers at the Porters 26. On the next play, Brown bounced to the left side and raced in from there. A two-point conversion gave the Tigers an early 8-0 lead.
Less than three minutes later Niko Messino also broke free on the left side for a 37-yard TD burst and Joliet West led 15-0 with 4:45 left in the first quarter.
The Tigers went ahead 21-0 midway through the second quarter when quarterback Ashton McCullough found Korey Rogers racing down the right side and hit him with a 96-yard touchdown pass. McCullough finished 5-of-11 for 189 yards and Rogers had three receptions for 150 yards.
Lockport closed the gap to 21-7 on an 11-yard TD run by Tyler Johnson (14 carries, 95 yards) just over three minutes into the third quarter.
On the ensuing play from scrimmage, Brown (16 carries, 171 yards) broke free down the left side for a 79-yard score.
“The offensive line made some nice blocks,” Brown said of that TD.
Cory Couch added a late fumble recovery for Joliet West, which held the Porters to 21 yards in the first half and 181 in the game.
