Morgan Park 23, Orr 6: Andre Newell threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score in leading visiting Morgan Park (4-3, 3-0) in the Public League Illini Prairie State.
SouthWest Suburban Blue Tournament: Homewood-Flossmoor (39) won championships in five of six divisions en route to a first-place finish over runner-up Lockport (23) and third-place Sandburg (20). Singles winners for the Vikings included Adesuwa Osabuohien (No. 1) and Faith Huckabee (No. 2). Sophia Osabuohien and Timara Maxwell added a title at No. 1 doubles for the Vikings. Lockport produced the winners at No. 4 doubles in Emily McCann and Rachel Polke.
South Suburban Red Tournament: Alexis Kasper won the crown at No. 2 singles in helping Reavis (26) capture first place ahead of Argo (14) and host Shepard (12). The Rams secured championships in two other divisions, including No. 2 doubles (Kelley Grzych and Ashley Galason). Shepard’s Rhonda Habbal prevailed at top-seeded singles, while Argo’s Michelle Beczarski and Nidda Saparnis triumphed at No. 1 doubles.
South Suburban Blue Tournament: No team scores were provided for the meet won by Lemont. The champion Indians swept the doubles competition, with Kelsey Motto and Sam Drafke leading the way among top-seeded duos. Claire Cronin and Kelly Lynch added a win at No. 2 doubles for Lemont. Second-place T.F. South produced singles winners in Bryttish Burts (No. 1) and Rakya Ali (No. 2).
East Suburban Catholic Tournament: Marian Catholic’s Gaby Rosales was runner-up at No. 1 singles, while Marist’s Caitlyn Schaffer finished fourth in the same division. Host Marian (23.5) was fifth in the team standings, one spot ahead of Providence (23) and three places better than Marist (21). Laurie Gregory and Christina de Bustros (No. 3 doubles) added a third-place showing for Marian.
GCAC White Tournament: Mary Kate Feldner and Margaret Sojka won first place at No. 1 doubles in helping Mount Assisi (25) garner the team championship. Emy Petraityte (No. 2 singles) also won her division for the Eagles.
Boys Cross Country
Rich Central Invitational: Thornwood (50) bested Marist (82) for first place among the 16 scoring teams. Marist’s Kyle Hauser was the medalist by completing the 3-mile race in 15 minutes, 31 seconds. Andrew’s Leo Teneyuque (15:56) was second, with the next three places held by Thornwood’s Reggie Brown (15:58), Mount Carmel’s Dan O’Keefe (16:07) and Thornwood’s Jesse Unzueta (16:16). Jones (90), Lemont (107) and Andrew (144) rounded out the top five squads.
St. Charles East Invitational: Tyler Matulis (16:43) was 17th as Lincoln-Way Central (131) finished fifth in the six-team meet.
Wheeling Invitational: Brother Rice’s Pat Maguire (16:02) came in 17th and teammate James Durkin (16:23) was 34th.
Girls Cross Country
Rich Central Invitational: Lincoln-Way West’s Natalie Waters (17:56) won the 3-mile contest ahead of Marist teammates Maggie O’Loughlin (18:06), Moira McDermott (18:51) and Julie Yaeger (19:04). Lemont’s Victoria Salazar (19:06) came in fifth. Marist (25) captured top honors in the 11-team field. Lemont (67) was second, followed by Andrew (103), Lincoln-Way West (111) and Stagg (156).
Wheeling Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central (533) finished 19th out of 21 teams. The Knights’ top runner was Bridget Sullivan (21:39), who was 89th.
St. Xavier 4, Judson 3 (OT): Cassie Pullia scored the winning goal for host St. Xavier (7-4-1, 3-2) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
