Football

No. 4 Crete-Monee 56, Rich South 0: Marcus Terrell (18-of-29) threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns to guide visiting Crete-Monee (8-0, 4-0) in the Southland. DeShawn Duncan and Laquon Treadwell each caught two scoring passes, with Treadwell also contributing a TD run. Rich South dropped to 3-5, 2-3.

No. 9 Thornton 55, Thornridge 6: JoWahn Brown was 8-of-12 passing for 206 yards and four touchdowns in spearheading visiting Thornton (7-1, 6-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Thornridge is 0-8, 0-6.

Lemont 47, Bremen 7: Chris Giatras had 28 carries for 230 yards and four touchdowns in leading host Lemont (7-1, 4-1) in the South Suburban Blue. Indians quarterback Zach Brosseau (10-of-15, 159 yards) added a 5-yard scoring pass to Drew Slee. Bremen fell to 4-4, 2-4.

T.F. South 39, Argo 6: Saleem Sanford (9 carries, 216 yards) ran for three touchdowns – the highlight a 91-yarder – to lift visiting T.F. South (7-1, 5-0) in the South Suburban crossover. Sanford also scored on a 16-yard reception late in the first half. D’Ken Jones contributed 101 yards rushing, including a 4-yard scoring run, for Argo (2-6, 0-6).

Rich Central 27, Kankakee 14: Ahmad McClellan had two touchdown runs to aid host Rich Central (3-5, 1-3) in the Southland.

St. Viator 31, Marian Catholic 21: Troy Nutall scored on an 80-yard kickoff return and a 59-yard run for visiting Marian Catholic (1-7, 0-5) in the East Suburban Catholic. Ki-Jana Crawford added a 56-yard touchdown jaunt for the Spartans.

Eisenhower 39, Oak Lawn 38: T.J. Skelton (60-yard run) and Lonnell Hill (70-yard reception) scored touchdowns for host Eisenhower (4-4, 4-1) in the South Suburban Red. Oak Lawn (2-6, 2-4) was led by Bob Olsen (19-of-32, 303 yards), who hooked up with Sean Altenburg and Nick Anderson for two TDs apiece.

De La Salle 10, St. Laurence 0: Carneal Owens’ 27-yard touchdown run sparked visiting De La Salle (4-4, 1-2) in the Catholic League White. St. Laurence slipped to 1-7, 0-4.

Hillcrest 32, T.F. North 27: The South Suburban Blue victory enabled visiting Hillcrest (1-7, 1-4) to snap a 26-game losing streak dating to 2009. T.F. North dropped to 1-7, 0-5.

Bradley 38, Stagg 14: Stagg (2-6, 1-4) dropped the SouthWest Suburban Red contest in Palos Hills.

Wheaton Academy 48, Chicago Christian 20: Chicago Christian (2-6, 1-5) lost the Suburban Christian Gold contest at Wheaton College.

Boys Golf

Class 3A Tournament: Sandburg’s Tom Thanasouras shot a 2-over-par 74 that left him tied for fifth place, three shots off the lead at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington. Remaining area golfers included Providence’s Mickey Brick (79), Lincoln-Way East’s Matt Stoner (82), Homewood-Flossmoor’s Jack Mulligan (83) and Lockport’s Nick Petrakos (87).

Class 2A Tournament: Jordan Velez, of St. Laurence, was tied for 20th after shooting an 8-over 79 at Weibring Golf Club in Normal. Rounding out the list of local qualifiers were Chicago Christian’s Adam Beezhold (81) and Alek Svabek (85) and Oak Forest’s Dylan Ross (91). In the team standings, Illiana Christian (350) was 12th, its top golfer being Jonathan Zandstra (82). Matthew Zandstra (87), Chris Tempelman (90) and Jake Boender (91) also contributed for the Vikings.

Class 1A Tournament: Beecher teammates Zach Aring (81) and Michael Barber (83) were the only area golfers to compete on the par-72 course at Prairie Vista in Bloomington.

Girls Golf

Class 2A Tournament: Alexis Biedrzycki of Lincoln-Way West shot a 2-over-par 75 at the Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur and finished the first round tied for fourth place, three strokes behind leader Stephanie Miller of Stevenson. Bree Veazey of Marian Catholic posted an 80, which tied her for 23rd. Taylor Lambertsen of Stagg tied for 30th with an 81, while Maggie Sloan of T.F. South and Bridget Lynn of Lemont ended the day with an 85, tying both for 50th in the field. In the team competition, Lincoln-Way East shot a 359 and entered Saturday’s second round in 12th place.

Boys Soccer

Bloom 6, Rich South 0: Osvaldo Sanchez scored twice to lead host Bloom (18-3-1, 10-0) in the Southland.

Class 1A Chicago Christian Regional

Illiana Christian 3, Chicago Christian 1: Lito Wagenveld, Cody Koehler and Juan Christian Wagenveld had goals for Illiana Christian (12-13-2) in the championship. Jake Robertson scored for Chicago Christian (9-13-2).

Class 2A Marian Catholic Regional

Rich East 6, Rich Central 2: Host Rich East prevailed in the quarterfinal.

Class 3A Andrew Regional

Homewood-Flossmoor 2, Bogan 1: Brian Gerecke and Andrew Lwango netted goals for host Homewood-Flossmoor in the semifinal.

Class 3A Lincoln-Way East Regional

Lincoln-Way North 2, Richards 0: Goals by Ben Stepuszek and Osvaldo Salazar propelled host Lincoln-Way North (4-13-4) in the quarterfinal. Josh Handzik recorded the shutout.
