Boys Basketball

Chicago Heights Classic

No. 3 Bloom 54, No. 5 Hillcrest 52: Johnny Griffin’s putback just before the buzzer put host Bloom (3-0) in the championship. Dejahown Freeman led the Blazing Trojans with 19 points, while Griffin added 15 points and nine rebounds. Jovan Mooring notched a game-best 21 points for Hillcrest (2-1). In the first game at Bloom, Mount Carmel (1-2) outlasted South Shore 72-63.

No. 10 Homewood-Flossmoor 67, Marian Catholic 58: Rashaan Surles netted 17 points as visiting Homewood-Flossmoor (3-0) captured a spot in the title round. Tai Odiase added 13 points for the Vikings, while Lamar Wofford-Humphrey had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Ulis, of Marian Catholic (2-1), paced all scorers with 30 points.

Thornwood 36, T.F. South 32: Patrick Bolton finished with 10 points to lead Thornwood (1-2) in the opening game at Marian Catholic. Donald Stone posted a game-best 12 points for T.F. South (0-3).

District 218 Tournament

No. 7 Marist 84, Eisenhower 82: Lexus Williams scored 33 points to guide Marist (2-0) at Richards. Tyrone Terrell had a team-high 22 points for Eisenhower (1-1).

Richards 90, Little Village 54: Josh Meier’s 16 points keyed Richards (2-0).

Illinois Lutheran Tournament

Illinois Lutheran 73, Longwood 57: Mack Newson scored 17 points as Illinois Lutheran (3-0) won the crown. Sam Geraci added 15 points for the Chargers and Matt Carter had 14. Morgan Park Academy topped Luther East 54-33 in the third-place game.

Joliet West Tournament

Tinley Park 56, Plainfield North 52: Vince Gooden’s 14 points lifted Tinley Park (1-1).

Joliet West 68, Thornridge 49: Greg Meyers and Darrion Robinson racked up nine points apiece for Thornridge (0-2).

Lincoln Tournament

No. 2 Seton 84, Danville 60: Johnny Patterson (8 rebounds) and Mark Weems (6 rebounds) totaled 14 points apiece for Seton (2-0).

Lincoln-Way North Tournament

Lincoln-Way East 56, Lincoln-Way North 55: Mike Moss’ basket with 11 seconds remaining enabled Lincoln-Way East (3-0) to capture the championship. Chris DeRubertis led the Griffins with 14 points, while Tournament MVP Eric Spudic netted 11. Lincoln-Way North fell to 2-1. Lincoln-Way Central (1-2) won third place by defeating Lincoln-Way West 68-44.

Oswego Tournament

Naperville North 62, No. 9 Andrew 60 (2 OTs): Jubril Adekoya and Glorind Lisha each scored 20 points for Andrew (1-2).

Reavis Tournament

Reavis 76, Universal 42: Reavis (3-0) finished first behind All-Tournament selections Nick Bal (21 points) and Eddie Puha (17).

Riverside-Brookfield Tournament

Rich Central 88, Urban Prep/Englewood 54: Will Berry chalked up 20 points and Keith Williams scored 16 for Rich Central (1-2).

Stagg Tournament

Stagg 69, St. Laurence 39: Kevin White scored 19 points and Sean Dwyer added 17 in guiding Stagg (2-0). Jim Schick led St. Laurence (1-2) with 11 points.

State Farm Tournament of Champions

No. 4 St. Rita 75, Greenwood (Miss.) Elzy 54: Dominique Matthews tossed in 26 points and Victor Law tacked on 19 to pace St. Rita (1-0) in downstate Washington.

WJOL Tournament

Providence 48, Lockport 47: Kevin Kozan (21 points) and Miles Boykin (12) starred for Providence (2-0) at the University of St. Francis. Lockport (1-1) received 14 points from Derrick Lockhart.

Girls Basketball

Glenbard East Tournament

Crete-Monee 57, Geneva 52: Alexia DeBose scored 21 points and Tournament MVP Marsha Howard added nine points and 10 rebounds in leading Crete-Monee (4-0) to a first-place finish.

Maine West Tournament

No. 1 Marian Catholic 72, Hersey 39: Teniya Page (10 assists, 5 steals) and Ashton Millender scored 17 points apiece to lead Marian Catholic (2-0).

No. 8 Mother McAuley 57, Stevenson 44: Alyssa Siwek’s 20 points were instrumental for Mother McAuley (2-1).

Marist Tournament

No. 2 Marist 58, Rich Central 19: Leah Bolton had 17 points to set the tone for Marist (4-0). Krystal Dean scored 10 points to lead Rich Central.

No. 3 Homewood-Flossmoor 49, Oak Park 42: Chardae Greenlee contributed 12 points and Emily Russo tacked on 10 in spearheading Homewood-Flossmoor (3-1).

St. Ignatius 49, T.F. North 27: Chanel Howard’s 10 points paced T.F. North (0-3).

Morgan Park Academy Tournament

Morgan Park Academy 52, Solorio 12: Brittney McKnight poured in 12 points to help Morgan Park Academy (5-0) win the championship. Illinois Lutheran topped Hope Academy 41-40 in the third-place game.

Wrestling

Tinley Park 39, Lincoln-Way North 36: Host Tinley Park prevailed in the season opener for both teams. Jack Mankiewicz won by fall for Lincoln-Way North.

Brother Rice triangular: Deion Carter (160 pounds) and Kameron Sconiers (184) each won twice as Richards defeated Brother Rice 42-30 and Proviso East 48-9.

South Elgin quadrangular: Anthony Cielenski (145) notched a pair of pins in helping Lockport beat Plainfield North 67-12, Boylan 72-7 and South Elgin 57-18.
