Boys Basketball

Plainfield North Tournament

Benet 41, Lincoln-Way North 40: Cody Murphy chalked up 12 points for Lincoln-Way North (5-4) in the second-round game.

Girls Basketball

No. 3 Rich South 44, Rich East 42: Tierney Lockett had 12 points and DeAsia Garrett added 10 to spearhead visiting Rich South (10-2, 3-1) in the Southland. Rich East dropped to 4-6, 1-3.

No. 4 Hillcrest 57, Oak Lawn 51: Dana Gettis netted 20 points and Tanzania Sherrill scored 17 to pace visiting Hillcrest (8-2, 4-0) in the South Suburban crossover. Mariam Awoniyi tacked on 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks. Brianna Markusic had 18 points and 13 rebounds for Oak Lawn (7-2, 3-1), while Brooke Annerino totaled 17 points.

No. 6 Lincoln-Way East 42, Homewood-Flossmoor 35: Meaghan McMahon totaled 17 points to power visiting Lincoln-Way East (7-1, 4-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Sydni Johnson’s 12 points were the most for Homewood-Flossmoor (7-4, 2-1).

No. 7 Lincoln-Way North 65, Thornridge 15: Ashley Weringa finished with 23 points and Valen Manns tacked on 13 to lead visiting Lincoln-Way North (7-1, 3-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Leigh LaRocco chipped in nine points and nine steals for the Phoenix.

Stagg 50, Thornton 21: Revi McMahon’s 14 points paced a balanced attack for host Stagg (5-2, 3-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. The Chargers also received 11 points from Alexa Janus and 10 from Carrie Sinclair.

Sandburg 72, Joliet Central 41: Brittany Munoz and Carly Katalinic scored 12 points apiece for host Sandburg (2-6, 1-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Shepard 48, Bremen 46: Abby Newsome accumulated 12 points and seven steals to steer host Shepard (5-7, 1-3) in the South Suburban crossover. Marissah Mitchell added 11 points for the Astros.

Tinley Park 49, Richards 48: Caitlin Sudduth poured in 14 points to propel visiting Tinley Park (9-4, 3-1) in the South Suburban Red. Sam Alberto added 12 points and 17 rebounds for the Titans. Georgia Danos had 14 points for Richards (4-4, 2-2) and Christiana Kwartnik scored 12.

Andrew 55, Bradley 23: Tiana Karopulos racked up 24 points and Molly Franson scored 17 to lift host Andrew (7-2, 2-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Evergreen Park 39, Oak Forest 38 (OT): Alexis Zelasko’s two free throws with 10 seconds remaining were the difference for host Evergreen Park (4-6, 2-2) in the South Suburban crossover. Megan Pfister led the Mustangs with 12 points.

Bolingbrook 68, Lockport 25: Anna Novak (8 points) was the top scorer for visiting Lockport (4-4, 1-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

T.F. North 45, Reavis 32: Taisha Johnson scored 16 points to pace visiting T.F. North in the South Suburban crossover. Katelyn LoRusso had 13 points for Reavis (5-5, 1-3).

Benet/Naperville North Tournament

Providence 32, Glenbard West 31: Alex Shermulis provided nine points to lead Providence (5-6) in the first-round game at Benet.

Boys Bowling

Bolingbrook 1,934, Sandburg 1,873: Sandburg’s Tyler Knight (231 game) led all bowlers with a two-game series of 452 in the SouthWest Suburban Blue meet at Orland Bowl.

Oak Lawn 2,147, Bremen 1,731: Ryan Campin’s 256 game and 491 series propelled Oak Lawn in the South Suburban crossover. Ken VandeWerken added a 246 game and 480 series for the Spartans at Palos Lanes. Kevin Lorz guided Bremen with a 372 series.

Richards 2,035, Reavis 1,823: Andrew Byland registered a 238 game and 473 series to spark Richards in the South Suburban Red dual at Brunswick Zone in Oak Lawn.

Oak Forest 1,955, Hillcrest 1,859: Hillcrest’s Xavier Muhammad paced the competition with a 445 series in the South Suburban Blue meet at Oak Forest Bowl. Jason Lorenz provided a 266 game for Oak Forest.

T.F. South 3,208, Tinley Park 3,059: Devin Brand (258 game) and Taveon Roberson (692 series) keyed T.F. South in the South Suburban Blue dual at Lynwood Bowl.

Girls Bowling

Richards 1,672, Shepard 1,458: Dyriana Washington, of Shepard, had a 380 series over two games in the South Suburban Red dual at Brunswick Zone in Oak Lawn. Sara McNeilly paced Richards with a 205 game and 360 series.

Tinley Park 1,640, Hillcrest 1,497: Hillcrest’s Denisyha Waller posted the top game (192) and series (383) in the South Suburban Blue dual. Anna Piech finished with a team-high 355 series for Tinley Park at Brunswick Zone XL in Homewood.

Lockport 1,978, Sandburg 1,839: Nicole Powell, of Sandburg, had meet bests with a 247 game and 446 series at Orland Bowl. Allyson Ware (226 game) notched a 420 series for Lockport in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Argo 1,420, Eisenhower 1,384: Stephanie Koch contributed a 200 game and 317 series to boost Argo in the South Suburban crossover at AMF Forest Lanes in Lyons.

Lincoln-Way East 1,715, Bolingbrook 1,495: Melissa Schobel’s 387 series powered Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban Blue meet at Thunder Bowl.

Bremen 1,564, Oak Forest 1,402: Bremen’s Alexis Jannotta rolled a 202 game and 390 series in the South Suburban Blue meet at Oak Forest Bowl.

Andrew 1,844, Lincoln-Way Central 1,692: Cassie Boat chalked up a 225 game and 404 series for Andrew in the SouthWest Suburban Red dual at Orland Bowl.

Reavis triangular: Brittani LoRusso posted a 382 series in guiding Oak Lawn (1,548) over Reavis (1,543) and Fenwick (1,210) at El-Mar Bowl. Reavis’ Ashley Kouba led all competitors with a 203 game and 389 series.

Wrestling

Lincoln-Way Central 54, Providence 21: Robbie Mikenis (138 pounds) contributed a pin for visiting Lincoln-Way Central.

St. Rita 46, Lincoln-Way East 18: Cole Mroczkowski (145), Kyle Langenderfer (152) and Nick Allegretti (heavyweight) notched pins for host Lincoln-Way East.

T.F. South triangular: Rayshaun Smith (132) won twice in helping Tinley Park defeat Oak Lawn 35-34 and T.F. South 33-30 in the South Suburban meet.

Boys Swimming

Oak Lawn 47, Thornton Fractional co-op 46: Wins by Sean Nugent in the 100-yard freestyle (58.61 seconds) and 200 freestyle (2 minutes, 11.33 seconds) propelled visiting Oak Lawn in the South Suburban crossover. Thomas Kotel, of Thornton Fractional co-op, posted the top times in the 50 free (25.57) and 500 free (5:44.18).

Stagg 115, Thornton co-op 46: Peter Krivanec prevailed in the 50 free (27.84) and 100 breaststroke (1:25.80) to aid host Stagg in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Gabe Jezierski added wins in the 100 butterfly (1:17.86) and 200 individual medley (2:39.57) for the Chargers.

Lincoln-Way East 105, Homewood-Flossmoor 80: Spencer Smith was first in the 100 backstroke (1:01.25) and 200 individual medley (2:10.49) for visiting Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Andrew 139, Lincoln-Way West 41: Wins by Zach Rentner in the 100 back (1:00.44) and Kyle Fitzgerald in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.01) aided visiting Andrew in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Shepard 103, Reavis 82: Matt Blicharski won the 50 free (24.68) and 500 free (5:19.81) to lead host Reavis in the South Suburban Red. Cody Karanovsky added a victory in diving (161.40 points) for the Rams.

Lincoln-Way Central 116, Joliet Central co-op 54: Cody Moris won the 100 free (51.62) and 100 back (54.76) for host Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Lemont 100, Evergreen Park 70: Mike Diorio set a school record in winning the 500 free (5:24.10) for host Lemont in the South Suburban crossover.
