Ashley Weringa, of Lincoln-Way North, is this week’s Beggars Pizza/SouthtownStar Girls Basketball Player of the Week.
Weringa, a senior guard, earned MVP honors as the Phoenix captured the title at the Oak Lawn Varsity Girls Holiday Tournament. In the championship game victory over Sandburg, Weringa had 16 points, after a 13-point effort against Richards and an 18-point showing against Simeon.
