Kelly McEathron, 17, of Oak Forest, is in her second season on the Bengals varsity basketball team.
She also plays golf and soccer.
What does it mean to you to be a Bengal?
Having the right character, always being positive even if things aren’t going right, just being a well-rounded teammate.
Tell the funniest story you can about coach (Steve) Schanz.
During a timeout once, we weren’t playing with our heads, so he tried to like, shock the floor with his clipboard, to revive it. I was like, “Are we allowed to laugh?” It was so funny.
Do you have any nicknames?
One is Noodles, because I’m told I have “noodley” arms. But I’m working on it.
What player from another team would you love to have as a teammate?
One of the (Garrett) twins from Rich South, DeAsia or CiErra. They’re just so fast and they’re just amazing.
What team gets you the most pumped up to play?
Tinley Park, because they’re in our district, and Rich South, because of last year’s regional.
What’s the coolest Christmas present you received this holiday season?
I now have all the seasons of “How I Met Your Mother,” and then my mom got me a Northface, which was cool.
Your dream celebrity prom date?
Andrew Garfield. I just think he’s so cute.
What hidden talent do you have that we need to know about?
I love to jump rope. I don’t know if it’s a hidden talent or a weird talent.
The team is coming over for dinner. What’s on your menu?
Cakepops and some pizza.
When you look in the mirror, what does it tell you about yourself?
That I always try to be positive, and looking to be the best I can be.
As told to Tony Baranek
