Updated: February 14, 2013 6:36AM

Reavis took a seemingly commanding 43-33 lead over Oak Forest with 2:12 left on Friday night.

Then the Bengals outscored Reavis 14-4 over the next 1:45 to tie the game at 47 on Mike Ward’s second three-pointer in the final minute.

However, Joe O’Hara calmly sank two free throws with 13.1 seconds left to seal Reavis’ 49-47 South Suburban crossover victory.

Ed Puha scored 16 points and Nicholas Ball had 14 to lead Reavis, which ran its record to 11-5 overall and 3-3 in the SSC.

“I don’t care if we win by one or 15, it’s a win,” Reavis coach Jeff Smith said. “In the conference we’re in, wins are tough to come by.”

David Gray scored 18 points, including four three-pointers, for the Bengals (6-11, 3-4).

“I give our guys a lot of credit for fighting until the end,” Oak Forest coach Matt Manzke said.

Oak Forest led 12-8 after a quarter and 15-10 late in the second before Reavis rallied. The Rams went on a 7-0 run in taking a 19-18 lead at the intermission.

Reavis pulled away in the third quarter. Corey Zieba’s offensive rebound and three-pointer at the horn gave the visitors a 32-22 lead heading into the fourth period.

“That big three at the end of the third was huge,” Manzke said.

“That one loose ball we got to at the end of the third and threw in a three was big for us,” Smith said.

Ward’s three-pointer with 59.9 seconds to play cut the Bengals’ deficit to 44-40. Another three by Ward forged a tie.

Trailing 49-47, Oak Forest missed a shot before Reavis won a jump ball with one second to play.

Reavis made 12-of-15 free throws over the final 4:23.
