Wrestling

Oak Park Invitational: Cosmo Halwix (182) was fifth as Argo (36) came in 12th in the meet won by Oak Park (310.50).

Boys Basketball

Waubonsie Valley 64, Lincoln-Way East 50: Terrell Harper and David Paulsen contributed 10 points apiece for host Lincoln-Way East (8-8).

Illinois Lutheran 65, Iroquois West 63: Mack Newson’s three-pointer with 30 seconds left was the difference for host Illinois Lutheran (11-5). Newson finished with 26 points and Austin Wood tacked on 17.

Glenbard East Shootout

Hinsdale Central 58, Andrew 48: Jubril Adekoya had 17 points and six rebounds to lead Andrew (10-6). Gino Karopulos added a career-high 14 points for the Thunderbolts and Mike Grenda scored 13.

Hoophall Classic

No. 4 St. Rita 71, Lake Clifton (Md.) 50: Victor Law scored 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to spark St. Rita (12-4) in Springfield, Mass. Dominique Matthews added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Mustangs.

Rockford Jefferson Martin Luther King Tournament

No. 2 Marian Catholic 67, Belvidere North 54: Tyler Ulis totaled 17 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals in leading Marian Catholic (18-2). Terrone Parham Jr. added 11 points for the Spartans in the second-round game.

Richards 83, Fenton 46: Thaer Othman had 18 points and Cortez Harper added 15 as Richards (9-8) won its second game of the day.

Belvidere 65, Evergreen Park 54: Tony Weathersby (21 points) and Morgan Murphy (17) led Evergreen Park (4-16).

No. 2 Marian Catholic 65, Fenton 35: Tyler Ulis’ 12 points led a balanced attack for Marian Catholic in the opening round. Ki-Jana Crawford and Josh Cohn tacked on 11 points apiece for the Spartans.

Richards 63, Belvidere North 50: Josh Meier poured in 31 points to guide Richards.

Rockford Jefferson 60, Evergreen Park 49: Tony Weathersby scored 17 points and Jacquet McClendon added 13 for Evergreen Park.

W.W. South Martin Luther King Tournament

Metea Valley 71, Oak Lawn 48: Shawn Cannon had a team-high 21 points for Oak Lawn (6-13) in the first round.

Girls Basketball

No. 1 Marian Catholic 89, South Bend Washington 64: Ashton Millender had 28 points and Melanie Ranson 15 to power visiting Marian Catholic (19-1). Teniya Page (10 points, 12 assists) and Kauai Bradley (12 rebounds) also starred for the Spartans.

No. 8 Stagg 51, T.F. North 31: Casey McMahon scored 20 points and her sister, Revi, added 10 in leading host Stagg (15-4).

Nazareth 41, Providence 39: Alex Shermulis scored a team-high 10 points for visiting Providence (9-12, 1-4) in the East Suburban Catholic.

Bradley 46, Queen of Peace 39: Hannah Lipman (15 points) and Kaitlyn McCarthy (9) were the primary scorers for host Queen of Peace (9-13).

Lockport 43, Waubonsie Valley 17: Naomi Mayes scored 12 points to boost host Lockport (8-9).

Bobby Bolton Winter Classic

Hinsdale South 60, Richards 46: Georgia Danos had 13 points for host Richards (8-11).

Willowbrook 63, Oak Lawn 45: Brianna Markusic had 16 points and Jill Steigerwald added 13 to lead Oak Lawn (15-5).

McDonald’s Shootout

No. 3 Morgan Park 64, Metea Valley 50: Kiara Carter scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to ignite Morgan Park (16-2) at Willowbrook.

Wheaton Warrenville South 72, No. 7 Hillcrest 56: Dana Gettis had 17 points and Mariam Awoniyi scored 16 to lead Hillcrest (16-5).

Martin Luther King Dream Classic

No. 5 Marist 59, Zion-Benton 56: JeTaun Rouse netted 29 points and Leah Bolton 20 to pace Marist (13-6) at Young.

Sweet 16 Tournament

Maine South 49, No. 2 Lincoln-Way East 38: Kara Krolicki finished with 15 points to guide host Lincoln-Way East (15-3).

Boys Bowling

Lindblom Sectional: Mount Carmel (5,840) earned a trip to the state tournament by finishing second behind Brooks (5,912) at Skyway Bowl. The Caravan’s top individual was Ryan Hernandez (1,301), who finished third. Fifth-place finisher Tevin Kimble (1,229), of St. Rita, earned an individual berth to the state meet.

Oak Lawn Sectional: Oak Lawn’s 6,218 series was enough to best second-place Lyons (6,051) at Palos Lanes. Leading the Spartans were Ken VandeWerken (1,342) and Ryan Kirby (1,318), who finished third and fourth, respectively. Runner-up Pete Switalksi (1,350), of Marist, and Bremen’s Gerald Regep III (1,298) qualified for the state meet on an individual basis.

Girls Bowling

SouthWest Suburban Blue Meet: Lockport (6,505) edged Joliet West (6,205) for the team title at Orland Bowl. Sandburg’s Nicole Powell was the individual champ with a six-game series of 1,431. Lockport’s Bri Zabierek (1,416) was a close second, while her teammate, Nicole Troha (1,363), came in third.

SouthWest Suburban Red Meet: Medalist Nicole Zopf (1,362) bowled a perfect 300 in the fourth game to lead Andrew (5,790) to the championship over second-place finisher Lincoln-Way North (5,460) at Orland Bowl. Lincoln-Way West’s Jessica Schram (1,265) was second and Lincoln-Way North’s Kayla O’Brien (1,254) took third.

Boys Swimming

Shepard Invitational: Rick Osty won the 50-yard freestyle (22.82 seconds) and 100 freestyle (54.89) in helping Andrew (447) top runner-up Shepard (271) for first place in the 10-team meet. Zach Rentner added victories in the 200 free (1 minute, 53.11 seconds) and 500 free (5:07.43) for the Thunderbolts, who also prevailed in the 200 free (1:31.57) and 200 medley (1:49.36) relays. Bremen’s Quinn Johnson won the 200 individual medley (2:12.61) and Oak Forest’s Joe O’Callaghan prevailed in diving (324.10 points).

Men’s Basketball

St. Xavier 66, Cardinal Stritch 62: Roosevelt Green had team bests with 22 points and five assists for visiting St. Xavier (19-4, 15-2) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Brad Karp added 12 points and seven rebounds for the Cougars.

South Suburban 89, Kishwaukee 83: Michael Harris scored 27 points and hauled in six rebounds to pace host South Suburban (16-2). Michael Lee (6 rebounds) and Bryce Walker added 19 points apiece for the Bulldogs, while Kellen Thornton finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Women’s Basketball

St. Xavier 67, Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) 60: Suzie Broski totaled 12 points and 11 rebounds to aid visiting St. Xavier (18-3, 13-3) in the CCAC.
