Simeon coach Robert Smith and Morgan Park coach Nick Irvin each have been suspended for four games by Chicago Public Schools officials, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.
The suspensions come in the aftermath of the dust-up that occurred between the two teams after the teams’ game Jan. 16 at Chicago State.
Neither coach returned calls for comment, and Chicago Public Schools officials have not responded to a request to confirm the suspensions.
Smith will miss Simeon’s game Wednesday against Bogan and Saturday’s game against Young at Chicago State that will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
He also will miss a home game Friday against Harlan and a game Feb. 2 in Las Vegas against Coronado, Nev.
Irvin will miss games Wednesday against Julian at home, Thursday at Carver, Jan. 28 at Bogan and at home Jan. 30 against Harlan.
Morgan Park is the SouthtownStar’s No. 1 team.
