THE STAR: Lemont senior Joe Hehir. After missing his first free-throw attempt with 4.3 seconds left of a 50-50 game, the senior calmly stepped to the line and knocked down his second try to
lift the Indians to the South Suburban Blue win. Hehir finished with 12 points.
THE MOMENT: Lemont trailed 28-19 at halftime. A 13-4 run to start the second half tied the game 32-all, and when Martynas Einikis converted a basket at 1:04 of the third, Lemont had its first lead of the night at 36-35.
THE QUOTE: “I knew I had it the whole time. I wasn’t nervous.” — Hehir, of his second free-throw attempt.
THE BREAKDOWN: T.F. North (17-7, 9-2) used its speed and height to dominate much of the first half. Six-foot-8 Marquis Todd and 6-6 Nick Wood combined for 14 points over the first 16 minutes. They combined for three points in the second half. Lemont’s Juozas Balciunas converted three three-pointers on the night and finished with 23 points.
