Boys Basketball

No. 3 Bloom 64, Kankakee 43: Johnny Griffin and Dejahown Freeman scored 15 points apiece in guiding visiting Bloom (23-3, 9-1) to its second consecutive Southland championship. Jared Johnson and Nhyree Mitchell each tacked on eight points for the Blazing Trojans.

Andrew 70, Lincoln-Way West 44: Jubril Adekoya had 20 points and nine rebounds to spark visiting Andrew (14-11, 9-5) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Glorind Lisha added 14 points for the Thunderbolts, who also received 12 points each from Jarvion Franklin and Luke Hook. Jon Marotta led Lincoln-Way West (2-25, 1-13) with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Sandburg 92, Lincoln-Way Central 77: Malek Harris chalked up 33 points to lift visiting Sandburg (8-17, 6-8) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Murad Elayyan added 16 points for the Eagles, Niko Cahue scored 14 and Alec Martinez had 12. Matt Mikolajczak had 18 points for Lincoln-Way Central (9-18, 1-13) and Brad Bass scored 14.

Thornwood 62, Thornton 52: Donte Thomas scored 20 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to power host Thornwood (12-14, 8-6) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Rashaad Alexander chipped in 11 points for the Thunderbirds and Brian Thomas had 10. Justin Taylor’s 16 points led Thornton (13-11, 11-13).

T.F. South 50, Bremen 39: Kenny Doss had 14 points and Illya Galloway 13 to boost visiting T.F. South (11-13, 7-6) in the South Suburban Blue. Otis Lane, of Bremen (10-14, 3-10), had 18 points.

Crete-Monee 58, Rich South 48: Laquon Treadwell finished with 15 points and eight rebounds to aid visiting Crete-Monee (18-8, 6-4) in the Southland. Mark Conner added 14 points for the Warriors. Demitri Strickland had a game-best 18 points for Rich South (10-16, 3-7).

Bradley 61, Thornridge 58: Darrion Robinson racked up 25 points and Antonio Woods added 15 for visiting Thornridge (8-18, 3-11) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.

Shepard 59, Evergreen Park 56 (2 OTs): Devontae Armwood totaled 18 points to power host Shepard (14-11, 6-7) in the South Suburban Red. Kyle Longfield added 13 points for the Astros, who allowed just two points in the second extra session. Morgan Murphy had 25 points for Evergreen Park (7-21, 3-10).

T.F. North 46, Oak Forest 33: Visiting T.F. North improved to 19-7 overall and 11-2 in the South Suburban Blue. Kyle Flanagan had seven points for Oak Forest (10-16, 5-8).

Chicago Christian 49, Marian Central Catholic 48: Brenden Wolinski (8 points, 6 rebounds) scored on a putback with 1.4 seconds left to win it for visiting Chicago Christian (10-15, 3-7) in the Suburban Christian Gold. Corey Bulthuis was the Knights’ top scorer with 18 points.

St. Viator 71, Mount Carmel 62: Mount Carmel (10-16) was beaten in Arlington Heights.

Class 1A Serena Regional

Newark 61, Illinois Lutheran 46: Brett Anderson had 26 points and 11 rebounds to propel Newark (19-11) in the title round. Illinois Lutheran finished 19-7.

Men’s Basketball

CCAC Tournament

St. Xavier 64, Indiana-South Bend 46: Jack Krieger’s game-high 15 points led St. Xavier (28-4) in the semifinal. Roosevelt Green added 13 points and five assists for the Cougars in Milwaukee.
