Class 3A Hillcrest Regional
Bremen 46, Chicago Christian 37: Marcus Geralds netted 13 points and Otis Lane scored 12 to propel Bremen (11-14) in quarterfinal play. Corey Bulthuis led Chicago Christian (10-16) with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Oak Forest 61, Thornridge 59: Jason Roland contributed a game-best 20 points for Oak Forest (11-16) in the quarterfinal. Joseph Gant had 15 points to pace Thornridge (8-19).
Class 3A Lincoln-Way West Regional
Lincoln-Way West 58, Sandwich 40: Lincoln-Way West (3-25) garnered a berth in the semifinal against Plano.
Class 4A King Regional
King 76, Reavis 57: Nick Bal chalked up a game-best 26 points for Reavis (16-10) in quarterfinal action. Eddie Puha and Jorge Martinez tacked on 11 points apiece for the Rams.
Class 4A Lockport Regional
Rich Central 58, Washington 42: Jamaal Murray dropped in 31 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to power Rich Central (11-15) in the quarterfinal.
Class 4A Marian Catholic Regional
Lincoln-Way East 59, T.F. South 42: Eric Spudic set a school record by scoring 33 points to spearhead Lincoln-Way East (10-16) in the quarterfinal. Chris DeRubertis added 11 points for the Griffins. Kenny Doss provided 14 points for T.F. South (11-14).
Thornton 80, Eisenhower 78 (OT): DeMarques Turner (18 points) made an off-balance bank shot as time expired to give Thornton (14-11) a berth in the semifinal. Justin Taylor was the top scorer for the Wildcats with 27 points. Tyrone Terrell was the standout for Eisenhower (6-18), making eight three-pointers en route to a 34-point performance.
Class 4A Mount Carmel Regional
Mount Carmel 61, South Shore 41: Christian Searles scored 20 points and David Nichols added 10 to key Mount Carmel (11-16) in quarterfinal play.
Class 4A St. Rita Regional
DuSable 65, Oak Lawn 49: Shawn Cannon notched 18 points and nine rebounds for Oak Lawn (7-20) in the quarterfinal. Bob Kametas chipped in 11 points for the Spartans.
Class 4A Sandburg Regional
Sandburg 65, Shepard 52: Niko Kogionis sank eight three-pointers and totaled 28 points to guide Sandburg (9-17) in the quarterfinal. Malek Harris tacked on 19 points for the Eagles. Shepard (14-12) received 16 points from Londell Lee and 15 from Devontae Armwood.
Andrew 59, Plainfield South 56: Jubril Adekoya scored 30 points and hauled in 11 rebounds to pave the way for Andrew (15-11) in the quarterfinal. Glorind Lisha aided the cause for the Thunderbolts with 11 points.
Class 4A Thornwood Regional
Thornwood 67, Lincoln-Way Central 37: Donte Thomas finished with 18 points to lift Thornwood (13-14) into the semifinal. Brad Bass contributed 12 points for Lincoln-Way Central (9-19).
Men’s Volleyball
St. Xavier 25-23-25-25-15, Johnson & Wales 23-25-19-27-7: Dan French dished out a career-high 45 assists and Justin Cousin slammed 16 kills for host St. Xavier (3-13). J.T. O’Connell and Sam Kull added 15 and 14 kills, respectively, for the Cougars.
