Girls Basketball

Queen of the Hill: Sandburg’s Rachel Ruzevich finished fourth in the Class 4A three-point shooting competition Friday at Redbird Arena in Normal. Ruzevich made 5-of-15 shots in the finals after going 11-of-15 during the preliminaries.

Girls Indoor Track & Field

Argo Invitational: Wins by Alexis Hyshaw in the 55-meter dash (7.3 seconds) and Alexis Pierre-Antone in the 55-meter hurdles (8.8) helped Lincoln-Way East (137 points) finish second behind St. Ignatius (140) in the 10-team meet. Julia Junkrowski added a victory in the pole vault (12 feet) for the Griffins, who placed second in three events. Lockport (75) came in fourth, its best performer being Kim Johnson, who was runner-up in the 2-mile run (11 minutes, 54.5 seconds). Shepard (62) was fifth, the Astros producing the winner of the long jump in Khalia McIntyre (16 feet, 101/2 inches).

Lincoln-Way Central Invitational: Lincoln-Way North’s Kayla Hylton placed first in four events, including the 55-meter dash (7.2) and 200 (26.8) dash. Hylton also helped the Phoenix prevail in the 800 relay (1:54) and mile relay (4:23.4) in the nonscoring meet.

Women’s Basketball

Region IV Semifinal

Prairie State 66, Morton 44: Danielle Zandstra had 15 points, 11 rebounds, five blocked shots and five steals to lead Prairie State (22-8). Amanda Pierce added 13 points for the Pioneers at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby.

Women’s Indoor Track & Field

NAIA National Championships: St. Xavier’s Rachel Dean captured All-America honors by placing fourth in the finals of the mile run (5 minutes, 1.97 seconds) in Geneva, Ohio. Ashley Shares was ninth in the 5,000-meter run (18:06.70) for the Cougars, while Mercedes Mancha finished 10th in the 3,000-meter race walk (16:28.92).
