College Basketball: St. Xavier women advance in NAIA tourney

SIOUX CITY, Iowa — St. Xavier’s women’s basketball team will take on the No. 2 team in the country Friday after winning its opening-round game Wednesday in the NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship.
The fifth-seeded Cougars rolled to a 70-49 win over No. 4 St. Thomas behind 24 points from Suzie Broski and 12 points and 11 rebounds from Lincoln-Way East graduate Caitlin McMahon.
SXU (25-6) faces the top-seeded University of St. Francis (Ind.) at noon Friday.
The Cougars beat St. Francis 78-61 in a December contest at SXU’s annual holiday tournament.
