Boys Water Polo
Lincoln-Way North 10, St. Charles East 9 (2 OTs): Chris Thrun scored four goals — including the winner in sudden-death overtime — to lift visiting Lincoln-Way North (3-3-1). Kyle Mohan added two goals for the Phoenix. Pat Kelly made 12 saves.
Brother Rice 7, Loyola 4: Kevin Mayer had four goals and Cal Kennedy stopped 19 shots to power host Brother Rice (4-4, 2-2) in the Metro Catholic.
Girls Water Polo
Marian Catholic 8, Resurrection 4: Paige Weiser and Grace VanBeest had hat tricks to propel visiting Marian Catholic (7-5, 3-0) in the Metro Catholic.
St. Ignatius 13, Sandburg 6: Brittany Kamper scored two goals to pace visiting Sandburg (6-2).
Mother McAuley 16, Loyola 8: Kristen Kleist had five goals for visiting Mother McAuley (8-1, 3-1) in the Metro Catholic. Amy Kopale and Fran Williamson tacked on four goals apiece for the Mighty Macs.
Lincoln-Way North 17, St. Charles East 4: Sam Klosak finished with a match-best five goals to lead host Lincoln-Way North (6-1). Cassidy DeGraff added a hat trick for the Phoenix.
Boys Volleyball
Stagg 25-25, York 6-23: Tom Matonis had five kills and four blocks to lead host Stagg in its season opener. The Chargers also received 12 assists from Matt Meyering.
Lincoln-Way Central 22-25-25, St. Rita 25-21-19: Matt Clark totaled 27 assists and nine digs to spark visiting Lincoln-Way Central (2-0). Jake Gmazel added eight kills and 14 blocks for the Knights. Thomas McDermott had 25 assists for St. Rita (0-1) and Kevin Banky chipped in 13 kills.
Men’s Volleyball
St. Xavier 25-21-25-22-15, MSOE 20-25-17-25-11: Jacob Siska totaled 18 assists and a school record eight aces in guiding host St. Xavier (6-18) past Milwaukee School of Engineering. Sam Kull added a team-high 17 kills for the Cougars, who also received contributions from Dan French (31 assists, 10 kills) and Sean Blackwood (15 kills, 9 digs).
