No. 1 Lincoln-Way North 6, Plainfield North 3: Kevin Smith (6-hitter, 12 strikeouts) pitched a complete game and also hit a solo homer to guide host Lincoln-Way North (2-0). Ryan Pellack added a two-run double for the Phoenix.
No. 2 Mount Carmel 8, Richards 2: Jeremy Kravetz (1-1) gave up one earned run on four hits in going the route for host Mount Carmel (5-1). Joe Kennedy’s sacrifice fly and Jerry Houston’s RBI single keyed the offense. Eric Hall and A.J. Sanchez posted RBI for Richards (3-4).
No. 3 St. Rita 6, Marist 4: Jake Shepski registered a bases-loaded strikeout with two outs in the seventh to preserve the win for host St. Rita (10-0). Jake Drada hit a two-run homer to pave the way offensively for the Mustangs.
No. 4 St. Laurence 11, Highland Park 0: Zach Lewis (3-for-3, 2 runs) drilled a three-run homer and accumulated five RBI in starring for host St. Laurence (5-1) in the five-inning game.
No. 6 Sandburg 7, St. Charles East 3: Alex Nelson, Matt Shimonis and Adam Zehme compiled RBI for visiting Sandburg (3-0).
Barrington 10, No. 7 Lemont 7: Mike Wisz belted a three-run homer to lead visiting Lemont (1-1).
No. 8 Andrew 14, No. 9 Marian Catholic 2: Dan Durkin’s three-run homer and Ryan Supple’s two-run shot helped carry visiting Andrew (4-3) in the five-inning game. Christian Haley had an RBI single for Marian Catholic (1-2).
No. 10 Lincoln-Way Central 13, Immaculate Conception 0: Kevin Mampe (2-for-4) homered and drove in four runs to spearhead host Lincoln-Way Central (1-1). Lucas Jones (3-for-3) tacked on three doubles and two RBI for the Knights in the five-inning game.
Jacobs 9, Brother Rice 5: Kevin Sullivan, Pat Kirwan, Wendall Ferguson and Kevin Biondic knocked in runs for host Brother Rice (4-2).
Waubonsie Valley 6, Lincoln-Way East 3: Chad Prieto contributed a pair of RBI for Lincoln-Way East (1-1) in Frankfort.
Lincoln-Way West 13, Oak Forest 1: Zach Speaker (3-for-3, 3 runs) contributed a three-run homer and four RBI for host Lincoln-Way West (3-0). Nick Andrade added a two-run shot for the Warriors in the five-inning tilt. Kevin Johnson went 2-for-2 with a run for Oak Forest (1-4).
Bradley 10, Crete-Monee 2: Brandon Hannigan and Malik McNeal provided runs for visiting Crete-Monee (0-2).
Argo 11, Kelly 1: Ryan Krob went 3-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI to boost host Argo (2-1) in the five-inning contest.
T.F. South 6, Homewood-Flossmoor 3: Brian Seymour (2-for-3) provided two RBI for visiting T.F. South (3-2). Homewood-Flossmoor fell to 1-1.
Chicago Christian 14, Eisenhower 4: Jack DeVries (2-for-4, 2 runs) registered three RBI to catapult host Chicago Christian (6-1) in the six-inning contest. Ryan Bielecki and Wally Findysz added three runs apiece for the Knights. Juan Gallardo smashed a two-run homer for Eisenhower.
Bolingbrook 6, Stagg 4: Brandon Campbell and Mike Farnan each contributed a solo homer and two RBI for host Stagg (3-4) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.
Bremen 11, Thornton 1: Tyler Banovich (2-for-3) racked up three runs and three RBI for host Bremen (5-1) in the six-inning contest.
Morgan Park 5, Evergreen Park 2: James Davison and Johnny Stevenson had two RBI apiece for host Morgan Park. Keyshawn Carpenter swatted a two-run homer for Evergreen Park (0-2).
Ag. Science 13, Bowen 1: Tom Gleason got the win and also drove in three runs for Ag. Science (4-1) in the five-inning contest.
Tinley Park 14-6, Thornwood 3-2: Mark Suarez got the victory in relief and also went 3-for-4 with an RBI in helping visiting Tinley Park (2-1) complete the sweep. Marcus Stokes and Bobby Neylon had two RBI apiece for the Titans in the five-inning opener.
T.F. North 8-4, Thornridge 0-3: Bill Wilson went 2-for-3 with two RBI and three runs for host T.F. North in the first game. Eric Sandoval racked up two hits and three RBI for the Meteors in Game 2.
Illinois Lutheran 5-7, Putnam County 4-4: Dylan Gould’s RBI single in the sixth won it for Illinois Lutheran in its season opener. Gould also starred in the second game, going 4-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.
No. 6 Mother McAuley 11, Fenwick 3: Dara Sanders went 3-for-3 with three RBI to show the way for host Mother McAuley (3-0).
Lemont 4, No. 8 Richards 3: Brianna D’Amato (2-for-3, run) had a double and two RBI to lead host Lemont (2-1, 1-1) in the South Suburban crossover. Richards fell to 2-2, 2-1.
No. 9 Lincoln-Way East 5, Trinity 0: Chrisi Mizera pitched a complete game (4-hitter, 13 strikeouts) and Carissa Ernat (2-for-4) had two RBI in pacing host Lincoln-Way East (2-0).
No. 10 Oak Forest 4, Marengo 1: Kylie Powers (2-for-2) produced a home run and three RBI for host Oak Forest (3-0). Emily Larsen hurled a four-hitter and struck out 10 for the Bengals.
Lemont 21, Hinsdale South 10: Rylie Jay, Lauren May and Rachel Hall had four RBI apiece for visiting Lemont (3-1) in its second game of the day.
Kankakee 3, T.F. South 1: Brianna Heintz provided two hits and a run for visiting T.F. South (1-1).
Romeoville 8, Rich East 2: Lydia Aguirre notched an RBI for visiting Rich East in its season opener.

Crete-Monee 8, Joliet Catholic 3: Melanie Lambert’s home run and four RBI led visiting Crete-Monee (1-1).
Lincoln-Way West 11-9, Evergreen Park 1-10: Jess Kaemerer (2-for-3) doubled, homered and knocked in three runs for visiting Lincoln-Way West (3-1) in the six-inning opener. Morghan Dieringer tossed a three-hitter and fanned 11 for the Warriors. Evergreen Park (1-2) took the nightcap thanks in part to Bethany Salazar, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Lincoln-Way Central 12, Hoffman Estates 3: Michelle Kriegshauser (3-for-4, 3 runs) had a pair of homers and three RBI to propel Lincoln-Way Central (1-1).
Antioch 4, Lincoln-Way Central 3: Gabby Boerema scored twice and drove in a run for Lincoln-Way Central in its season debut.

Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) 7, No. 2 Marist 6: Haley Richy chalked up two RBI for Marist (2-2) in its tournament finale.
No. 2 Marist 6, Lake Howell (Fla.) 0: Brooke Wilson notched an RBI single to assist Marist in the Blue Division. Winner Audra Hecker and Lizzie Annerino combined on a five-hitter for the RedHawks in the six-inning game.
Lady Warrior Southern Classic
No. 4 Sandburg 2, Marshall (W.V.) 0: Katie Krzus (3-for-3) and Sam Radunz stroked RBI singles for Sandburg (1-4) in its tournament finale in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Sarah Herold struck out eight in going the distance for the Eagles.
Argo Invitational: Dan Krasich dished out 41 assists and Ed Karalius spiked 22 kills as Richards (9-3) defeated Benet 25-15, 24-26, 25-18 in the championship of the 12-team tournament. Lincoln-Way West finished third after besting Hinsdale South 29-27, 26-24.
Wheaton Warrenville South Invitational: Sandburg (8-2) finished fourth after losing to Minooka 37-35, 25-17. The Eagles also dropped a 25-19, 25-23 decision to eventual champion Glenbrook North in the semifinal round.
Lincoln-Way North 1, Lyons 1: Unique Manns scored for host Lincoln-Way North (4-0-2).
Homewood-Flossmoor 3, Bradley 2: Chrissy Coderre netted a hat trick to lift host Homewood-Flossmoor (1-1) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.
Lincoln-Way West 8, Rich South 0: Natalie Tannura scored three times for Lincoln-Way West (6-1-1) in Richton Park. Cori Brennan added two goals and two assists for the Warriors.
Sandburg 3, Lemont 2: Goals by Meghan Carmody, Morgan Manzke and Jen Olsen propelled host Sandburg (3-1).
Argo 2, Kelly 1 (SO): Alicja Walkosz scored in regulation and also provided the deciding goal in the penalty-kick shootout to give Argo (4-2) the championship. Earlier, the Argonauts defeated Rich East 2-1.
Bloom 7, Rich East 0: Andi Hernandez netted two goals in spearheading Bloom (2-3) to a third-place finish. The Blazing Trojans opened the day with a 3-2 loss to Kelly.
Lincoln-Way East quadrangular: Tom Emola (No. 1 singles) won all three of his matches in directing Lincoln-Way East to 5-0 victories over Reavis and Downers Grove South as well as a 4-2 win opposite Reavis. Luke Greenfield and Jaroslaw Jozwik (No. 2 doubles) also went 3-0 for the Griffins.
Boys Track & Field
Andrew Invitational: Shepard (143) won the six-team meet behind Londell Lee, who was first high jump (6-4), long jump (21-21/2) and triple jump (40-11). Abel Hernandez added victories in the mile run (4:43.2) and 2-mile run (10:16) for the Astros. The other standout was Bremen’s Demetrious Shelton, who bested the competition in the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.2).
St. Xavier 5-4, Olivet Nazarene 4-22: Brian McQuillan was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the seventh to score pinch-runner Mike Stirling with the deciding run for St. Xavier (11-8, 6-4) in Game 1 of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Cougars had tied the game four batters earlier on Tom Keating’s single. Keating tacked on three hits and three RBI in the second game.
