Host Richards scored on every possession against its Public League foe. Harlan surged on a combination 86-yard kickoff return by Demetrius Anderson and Daniel Johnson to get to within 12-8, but the Bulldogs responded many times over.
Harlan was moving the ball on the game’s first possession when Richards linebacker Romel Hill delivered a ferocious hit, jarring the ball away from Harlan quarterback Johnson. Nurudeen Kamorudeen recovered for the Bulldogs, who went in five plays later on a 10-yard pass from Hasan Muhammad-Rogers to Ryan Willett.
Muhammad-Rogers (12-of-14, 235 yards, 4 TDs; 6 carries, 45 yards, 2 TDs) had a huge day, finding Ryan Willett three times (10, 36, 22 yards) for scores. Daniel was 11-of-23 for 161 yards for Harlan.
BY THE NUMBERS
Richards outrushed Harlan 145-24. The game was fraught with penalties, the two teams totaling 17 for 125 yards.
“We did all right, but we made a lot of mistakes that people outside the team wouldn’t notice. But we still set self standards that … we’ve got to do better.” — Muhammad-Rogers
