St. Xavier (1-0) at University of Indianapolis (1-0)
When: 5 p.m. Saturday at Key Stadium, Indianapolis
Coaches: Mike Feminis, St. Xavier; Bob Bartolomeo, Indianapolis

St. Xavier preview: The Cougars are coming off a thrilling 31-24 overtime win over defending NAIA national champion and bitter rival Marian (Ind.). The win especially was big, coming into Saturday’s challenge. ... QB Joe Gill (31-for-51, 303 yards, 2 TDs) was solid, especially in the second half, in his second career start. ... St. Xavier would love to get the run game going. RB Nick Pesek was held to 37 yards on 13 carries (2.8 average) by Marian. ... The Cougars defense shut out Marian after halftime. “Our defense turned it up 10 notches in the second half,” Feminis said.
Indianapolis preview: The Greyhounds are ranked 14th in NCAA Division II and are coming off a 10-9 win over then-No. 9 Ashland (Ohio). Their defense pitched a second-half shutout in the opener. ... Indianapolis finished last season ranked 15th in the nation. Its No. 14 spot is the highest in program history. ... The Cougars will need to slow down sophomore WR Reece Horn, who had 13 catches for 200 yards and a touchdown. QB Chris Mills was a preseason Third-Team All-American. ... LB Todd Hacker had 13 tackles and two sacks against Ashland. ... Southland products on the Indianapolis roster include WR Tim Jones (Tinley Park), RB Andrew Walker (Brother Rice), LBs Chris Barcelona and Derrick Bryant (Mount Carmel) and defensive lineman Vince Maida (Marist).
What Feminis said: “If we had lost (to Marian), then we go to Indianapolis to take on a very good Division II team with a chance to start 0-2. It was a big win.”
Next week: St. Xavier hosts Robert Morris while Indianapolis visits Drake.
