Marist 45, Nazareth 37
In an offensive shootout in the East Suburban Catholic conference opener, Marist (2-1, 1-0) came through late with two huge defensive plays, an Isaiah Bickhem tackle for a loss and the secondary breaking up a Nazareth pass in the end zone with 1:11 left in the game.
Leading 35-31, Marist’s Tim Finucane deflected a pass, linebacker Marco Weidman pulling down the interception. Peter Andreotti scored three plays later to put the RedHawks up 42-31.
Andreotti, a senior running back, finished with 168 rushing yards on 32 carries with three rushing touchdowns.
By the Numbers
Nazareth (2-1, 0-1) ran for 294 yards, including two scores from Ivory Kelly-Martin (93 rushing yards) but couldn’t punch it into the end zone late.
“It was an emotional two weeks for us after St. Rita and Br. Rice, but we worked our butts off for this one, especially scoring 45 points. I couldn’t have done it without my offensive line” — Andreotti
