Football: Lincoln-Way East crushes Lockport 50-6

Lincoln-Way East (4-0, 2-0) jumped out to a 29-0 first-quarter lead and rolled in the SouthWest Suburban Blue contest in Frankfort. Lockport fell to 0-4, 0-2.
After Lockport went three-and-out on the game’s first possession, Zach Hoffman blocked the ensuing punt and Matt Varichak recovered it for a touchdown. Kicker Anthony Sciarini ran for a 2-point conversion on a trick play and the Griffins had an 8-0 lead.
Lincoln-Way East quarterback Jordan Wirtz completed his first 11 pass attempts for 114 yards. He finished 16-of-23 for 172 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half. He connected on TD passes of 38 yards to Austin Winkler (4 catches, 79 yards), 5 yards to Colin O’Connell and 25 yards to Alex Kraft. Wirtz also ran four times for 68 yards.

East had 316 yards of offense in the first half and finished with a 385-82 advantage in total yards. Lockport scored on a 24-yard TD pass from Billy Krawczyk to Trevor Cielenski.
