Evergreen Park (5-0, 3-0) came out on top in the South Suburban Red clash, with Jacquet McClendon’s interception with three seconds to go in the fourth quarter sealing the deal.
With 24 seconds left in the game, Evergreen Park backup quarterback Sean Ryan scored the game-tying touchdown, a 7-yard run. Matt Schulte’s PAT put the Mustangs up 35-34.
Keyshawn Carpenter (39 carries, 140 yards, 2 TDs) carried the Mustangs offense when quarterback Jonathan O’Brien was knocked out with a broken left collarbone in the first half. McClendon finished with nine catches for 139 yards and two scores.
BY THE NUMBERS
Hasan Muhammad-Rogers finished with 188 passing yards, 106 rushing yards and four TDs for Richards (4-1, 2-1). The second half featured six lead changes, Richards going up 34-28 when Muhammad-Rogers hit Spencer Tears for a 10-yard score with 4:23 remaining.
