In a match-up of teams atop the SouthWest Suburban Red, Lincoln-Way North (5-0, 3-0) was able to stay unbeaten. The Phoenix used a solid run game and a physical run defense to top the Wildcats (3-2, 2-1).
After Thornton scored to get to within eight points, Lincoln-Way North running back Julian Hylton took his 31st carry of the night 82 yards for a touchdown and 27-12 lead on the ensuing possession.
Hylton, an Illinois recruit, carried the load for Lincoln-Way North. He rushed 39 times for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

Lincoln-Way North senior Osvaldo Salazar converted 3-of-4 field-goal attempts. The Phoenix defense shut down Iowa State-bound receiver Jauan Wesley, limiting him to just 62 yards on four catches. Lincoln-Way North held the Wildcats offense to 68 yards in the second half. Thornton struggled to move the ball after starting quarterback Jo Wahn Brown was knocked out of the game late in the second quarter with a knee injury.
