Bremen (4-1, 3-0) won its fourth straight game and remained in the race for the South Suburban Blue title. The Braves defense bent but did not break in the second half. T.F. South fell to 2-3, 1-2.
Marcus Lewis intercepted a pass and brought it down to the T.F. South 24-yard line late in the first half. Two plays later, Tyler Banovich found Sean Grant for a 19-yard touchdown pass over the middle that gave the Braves the lead for good at 15-13 with 46 seconds remaining in the half.
Banovich performed well with both his arm and his legs. He was 10-of-16 passing for 184 yards and two touchdowns. He ran nine times for 62 yards, including a 4-yard TD run.
The Braves outgained the Rebels 323-214. Bremen had an 18-play, 80-yard drive in the second quarter that took 6:43 off the clock.
“Last week against T.F. North, we had to step up in some tough spots and we did. Our playmakers learned from that and carried that over (Friday).’’ — Bremen coach Dan Stell
